I have created this work using my hands as a brush. This technique arose from my need to show compassion to myself and to embrace him. After thinking about it, I realized that my need to show compassion to myself is accompanied by the need to put back traumas from my childhood and to forgive my parents. At that moment I realized that the hands symbolize not only mine but also my parents. The lack of physical contact such as the hug from them has played an important role in the gap that exist between us and still preventing me from overcoming it.
Moreover this gap causes me a feeling of being trapped and isolated which I express by mixing the colors at the bottom of the design.

At the first of five St Paul's Forum events in autumn 2013, Karen Armstrong and Camila Batmanghelidgh took to the Cathedral floor to speak on the subject of compassion.
Compassion lies at the heart of all religions, spiritual traditions and ethics: Do unto others as you would have them do to you. And it’s a force to change the world from inside: we know that love changes us, and neuroscientists have discovered that love – and the lack of love – significantly affects the development of the brain. But why do we find it so hard to act with compassion for others, especially those different from ourselves? Can compassion find its place in our laws, our governments, our public life, as well as in our personal values?
