Stage One: I installed the recommended 110 width bottom bracket so that I could mount the Velo-Orange compact double crankset. With a 48/32 combination, I'm hoping this will meet my all around needs. I also find this to be quite a beautiful set of cranks.
Film from a fujica compact S camera shot at 400 ISO pulled one stop to achieve the 200 max of the camera.

So I wrote a program that could read the red, green, and blue values making up each pixel in an image. Now by reading a line of an image, I could get the spectrum my sensor sees with the red, green, and blue pixels. But there's some noise so ideally we'd like to use multiple lines so hot pixels and dead pixels aren't a problem.
I made it adjust each line so the values are about the same. That way it's still weighting the dimmer parts of the image significantly.
The other problem is the lines might not be exactly vertical -- I was just hand-holding the camera. If the lines were slightly tilted, it'd blur out small peaks and whatnot. So I wrote something that would figure out if it should shift the line relative to the line above/below it -- Indeed, it found my picture was skewed somewhat, but the offsets make a nice line, so I think it's working.
This is the result. The peaks on the graph correspond to to the spectrum I found on wikipedia, so I picked the four major peaks and their wavelengths in nanometers, and I plotted them against the column number in my picture, and found they made an almost perfect line (R squared of .9999). So now I can interpolate and extrapolate the wavelengths of every column in my image. Now I have a real X axis :-)
A few things I noticed
The red line drops down to zero in the blue and green peaks. I double checked the original image and it was the same. I don't know what the deal is with that. I don't think the other spectrums i took pictures of did that. . .
The blue pixels seem to have a very extreme filter from 530-580nm.
Green crosses above blue at a certain wavelength. In theory, that wavelength should be the same regardless of the light source. Ditto for red crossing above green.

Olympus made some really good compacts over the years.
All these are nice to use and produce great images.
The XA4 is one of a few fixed lens cameras that is wide angle.
A fine lens and it focus down to 0.3 metre.
Things I don't like are no filter / lens hood mounting, and DX coding. The DX is easily over ridden with a bit of electrical tape then I can set the ISO manually for a bit more control.
The 35RC needed new light seals and I have made these from black felt rather than foam. Only other issue with this is the battery. Best solution is a thirty quid batery adapter from the Small Battery Company. Otherwise it is off setting the ISO to compensate from slightly higher voltage of the S625PX silver oxide batteries that is available now.
The Pen has limited versatility but it works really well in most conditions except low light, it just stops working when it gets to 1/40 at f2.8. So fast film in the winter.
Just found this going cheap on a back shelf of a antique/bric a brac store so i had to have it!! Does look a little worse for wear but after a few tests it seems to be in perfect working order apart from the counter. But as long as i remember that it shoots half frame and will give me 48 shots for a 24 exposure film i should be ok! hopefully!

Diese extrem rechte Veranstaltung hat eindeutig den Auftakt der "Ami go Home-Kampagne" von Jürgen Elsässer und seinem "Compact-Magazin", das die ganze Palette verschwörungsideologischer und antisemitischer Narrative bedient, promotet. Der Chefredakteur betont das er mit seinem Magazin diese Veranstaltung zwar intensiv beworben hat, aber nichts mit organisatorischer Vorbereitung und offizieller Anmeldung zu tun hatte, wozu es in einigen Medien unterschiedliche Aussagen gibt. Abgesehen davon trägt aber die ganze inhaltliche Agenda bezüglich der "Ami go Home-Kampagne" augenscheinlich Elsässers Handschrift. Als ein Versammlungsleiter präsentierte sich dann der ehemalige AfD-Funktionär André Poggenburg, weiterhin war auch der extrem rechts orientierte Dresdener Rechtsanwalt Jens Lorek vor Ort und kommunizierte immer wieder mit der Polizei. Damit entstand der Eindruck, dass beide die verantwortlichen Personen für diese Veranstaltung waren, zumal sie auch zum Beginn die Ordner:innen eingewiesen hatten.
Obwohl der Simsonplatz vor dem Bundesverwaltungsgericht nur zur Hälfte gefüllt war, fabuliert Jürgen Elsässer von 6370 gezählten Personen und spricht von einem Riesenerfolg "vor allem für Freie Sachsen, Thüringer Patrioten und unser COMPACT-Magazin". Laut Polizeiangaben haben ca. 1200 Menschen an der Kundgebung und der anschließenden Demonstration, die nach wenigen hundert Metern durch eine Sitzblockade des antifaschistischen Gegenprotestes vorzeitig beendet werden musste, teilgenommen. Auch das NPD-Organ "Deutsche Stimme", das mit seinem Chefredakteur Peter Schreiber vor Ort war, unterstützte die Propagandalüge von Elsässer über die Teilnehmer:innenzahl. Realistisch ist es aber definitiv von 1200 Teilnehmer:innen bei der "Ami go Home-Veranstaltung" auszugehen. Die Atmosphäre der Veranstaltung erinnerte an die extrem rechten Aufmärsche von Pegida, bei denen neben den meist rassistisch orientierten Wutbürger:innen auch Nazi-Hools, organisierte Neonazis, Rechtspopulist:innen aus der AfD und Reichsbürger:innen teilgenommen hatten.
Bei dieser vom "Compact-Magazin" geprägten Veranstaltung waren u. a. die reichsbürgerlich/monarchistisch orientierten Sekten aus Berlin "Die Deutschlandfrage" und "Gelbe Westen Berlin" angereist. Aber auch andere bekannte Gesichter aus der Berliner "Schwurbelszene" tauchten hier auf, so z. B. Personen die der "Freedom Parade" und dem (Anti)"Demokratischen Widerstand" um Anselm Lenz und Hendrik Sodenkamp zuzurechnen sind. In einem Redebeitrag konnte auch der Berliner Reichsbürger Stefen Clemens von der Sekte "Die Deutschlandfrage" seinen extrem rechten verschwörungsideologischen Unsinn unter viel Beifall verbreiten. Er musste sich aber hinten anstellen, denn auf der knapp dreistündigen Auftaktkundgebung kamen erstmal die bekannten Protagonist:innen der Veranstaltung zu Wort. Das waren natürlich André Poggenburg (ehemaliger AfD-Vorsitzender in Sachsen-Anhalt), Christian Klar (Organisator rechter Montagsproteste in Gera), Egbert Ermer (ehemaliger AfD-Vorsitzender Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge), Frank Haußner ("Patrioten Ostthüringen", "Freies Thüringen"), Gitta Kritzmöller ("Patrioten Ostthüringen"), Jürgen Elsässer (Herausgeber & Chefredakteur des Compact – Magazin), Jürgen Schönherr (extrem rechter Akteur seit Pegida, Beschuldigter im Zusammenhang mit den Mordplänen gegen Sachsens Ministerpräsident Michael Kretschmer), Marcus Fuchs (Querdenken 351- Dresden), Robert Farle (ehemals AfD Sachsen-Anhalt, früher DKP), Stefan Hartung (seit 2005 Mitglied der NPD, Mitbegründer "Freie Sachsen").
Die extrem rechten "Freien Sachsen" hatten organisatorisch und natürlich auch inhaltlich einen wesentlichen Anteil an dieser Veranstaltung gehabt. Die am 26.02.2021 in Schwarzenberg im Erzgebirge gegründete Kleinstpartei betrachtet sich in ihrem Selbstverständnis als "Sammlungsbewegung". Seit über einem Jahr werden sie bundesweit vom Verfassungsschutz als "rechtsextrem" eingestuft und beobachtet. Die führenden Protagonisten der Partei "Freie Sachsen" sind ihr Vorsitzender Martin Kohlmann, der als Monarchist wahrgenommen wird, weiterhin der NPD-Funktionär Stefan Hartung, der bei "Freie Sachsen" die Funktion als Parteivize innehat und der aus Dortmund nach Chemnitz zugezogene Neonazi Michael Brück, ehemals "Nationaler Widerstand Dortmund" und stellvertretender Landesvorsitzender der Partei "Die Rechte" in Nordrhein-Westfalen. Ferner ist der "Querdenker" Thomas Kaden, bekannt als „HonkForHope“-Busunternehmer, in der Führungsriege von "Freien Sachsen" vertreten. Im Fazit dieser Fakten darf die "Ami go Home-Kampagnen-Veranstaltung" als ein neonazistischer Aufmarsch betrachtet werden.

Thank you for looking at my vintage compact collection! Compacts became a fashion statement for women in the early 1900s and are still made today.
I started collecting vintage compacts around 10 years ago. A co-worker was cleaning out her mother's house and gave me an old cigarette case that she found. I held onto it for awhile just excited about the unknown history behind it, but when I did a little research, my envy turned more in the direction of the powder and rouge compact.
I have over 100 vintage powder and rouge compacts. I have gotten most of them at yard sales, flea markets, EBay, and some as gifts. My oldest one dates back to 1920. Based on information from a 1999 price guide, most of them value anywhere between $25.00 to as much as $500.00 each. Collecting compacts is a fantastic hobby for me! They do not take up much space, they are easy to display, they are a great conversation piece, and they are very durable and hold up well over time! My 6-year-old thinks they are so neat and I really enjoy sharing them with her. To this day, I always keep an open eye to add to my collection whenever I can. It is something that has become part of me and I love the fact that every compact I own has its own very personal history all hidden inside, something that will remain a mystery forever!

Another awsome Sport Compact event at WSID.Loads of cars made the trek from all over Aus to compete.Almost capacity entries on the track & a great selection of hot cars on show.
The presentation standard of Sport Compact drag cars has really amazed me so far this year, with a lot of the top runner track cars looking like prestine show cars with candy pearl paint jobs,tastefull air brushing and graffix and tuff drag spec rims all round. these guys have definatly stepped it up a notch!
Took a whole lot of photo's throughout the day, but unfortunatly forgot my memory backup so was limited to 4G worth of space...Ahhhrr.
