Compact 24x36 peu courant en France. Objectif fixe Canon 40 mm 1:2,8(16), 4 éléments en 3 groupes, mise au point rapprochée à 0.80 m, filtres 48 mm, télémètre couplé, obturateur central à lamelles métalliques de chez Copal, la vitesse est réglée automatiquement de 1/30 à 1/600 par la cellule au CdS alimentée par une pile PX625, pas de retardateur, synchro flash à 1/30. L'appareil peut fonctionner en manuel sans pile. L'appareil se nomme "New Canonet 28" chez Canon.

Playing around with my new camera I got today (Canon SX100). Big upgrade from my old dinosaur of a camera(3.2MP Olympus). What I like about the camera is that it gives you manual controls, raw file support via chdk and big optical zoom capability in a compact body (compared to DSLRs anyway). I have yet to learn the manual controls
What I noticed today was that I could get much closer to the subject in macro shots now (see above) and the image stabilization means I don't have to use a tripod as much, I don't get the blur that was much more common before. Yeah I know it's a pretty common feature on today's cameras. I've finally stopped living in the stone age!
With this, you can use off-camera flash outdoors with a compact camera. Many people have been asking to do this, obviously, because they don't want to buy a new camera. To use this, turn on the built-in flash on your camera, attach the optical trigger (SYK-3) to the radio transmitter. Hold those two near the camera when you take the photo. The flash will trigger the radio remote, which will trigger the big flash. If you are more than a few feet away, the built-in flash will not have much effect on the subject, but the speedlite will.
Recommended settings for tombstone photography with this set-up: Flash at 1/4 power, about 4 feet away from tombstone. Camera on Program Mode (P), with -1 stop of exposure compensation. Adjust to taste and circumstances.
Remember to turn off any pre-flash modes on your camera, such as red-eye reduction.
This should be great for most shots.

Canon Sure Shot and Nikon L35AF are compact 35mm cameras. Both are motorized, auto-focus, auto-exposure cameras that are great for the times when I want to shoot with a small, simple, inexpensive, easy to operate cameras that take decent quality photos.
They are also useful for the times when I need to loan someone a camera. For example, when I shoot weddings, I sometimes give a camera to a female and ask her to go into a restricted area (like the women’s dressing room) and take candid photos of the bride.
When I taught 35mm film photography, I purchased these inexpensive Nikon and Canon compact cameras on Ebay for loan to students who did not have their own.
Both cameras require two AA batteries.

The Fujica Compact 35. This one doesn't seem to get too much attention among camera cultists, but it's a wonderful machine nonetheless.

This is a nice little compact camera from the late 1960s. It is very sturdy with all metal construction. The condition is surprisingly good except that the lens label plate is missing and the foam seals need replacement. The selenium meter is still working, but the EV reading is one stop lower when compared with my DSLR. This can be compensated with higher ISO setting (e.g. use ISO 200 for ISO 100 film). The maximum ISO setting is 200. That leaves ISO 100 film as the best choice for this camera.
The lens is Fujinon 38mm f/2.8 with aperture down to f/22. The Seiko-L shutter has speed 1/30-1/250s, and Bulb. The shutter works in one of three modes: (1) when the aperture is set to "A", the shutter is automatically locked to "A/flash", this is the programmed auto exposure mode; (2) when the aperture is set to a non-"A" position and the shutter is set to "A/flash", the shutter speed is set to a fixed flash sync speed, this is the flash mode; (3) when both aperture and shutter are set to non-"A" position, it works in full manual exposure mode.
