Commuters trudge across the footbridge at Newcastle station on their way to work, disembarking from a class 158 that has just arrived from the west.
4th June 2019.
Strung out in the back of a black car
No keys, all I got is my credit cards
And I've been here a million times
Drive fast with The Beatles in the background
Till 'em take the 101 out of this town
I was never one to say goodbye

Living in the suburbs requires a daily commute. For most this involves driving to work. In fact the modern suburb was made possible because of the automobile and freeway system. Patronage of the transport system is very strong in Melbourne (although pandemic restrictions have reduced the numbers of travelers on public transport).
Imagine being free. No car payments. No insurance. No gasoline. No parking fees. No driving around looking for a parking spot. No time spent stuck in traffic. Getting fresh air. Clearing your head. Exercising your body. Feeling good about yourself and the world you live in.
this is actually an Instagram picture from this morning, but I thought it was so good in a square format that I upload it on Flickr, while I still commute, but this time back home, on a train.. Edited in Snapseed, on iPad, on the train.
Overlooking Nippori Station, one of Tokyo's best railspotting locations. Almost every minute a train passes through here, so there's rarely a moment of silence for this sleepy old neighbourhood.
