Approximately 100 students, faculty, staff and community members attended the Salsa/Merengue/Bachata Dance hosted by the Latin American Studies Committee and Casa di Amigos. During this free event, participants enjoyed Latin American dance lessons, food, music and dancing. In addition, two attendees were selected at random to receive gift cards donated by Cozymel restaurant. Aligned with the Latin American Studies Committee’s goal of promoting understanding and appreciation of Latin American cultures, this event provides an opportunity to introduce participants to the dance and music of Latin America.

More than 3000 visitors experienced hands-on activities at STEMCON at College of DuPage. The day-long event highlighted science, technology, engineering and math through interactive booths, specialized workshops and an explosive presentation by Kate the Chemist.
The Naperville Regional Center Grand Re-Opening Open House attracted community members, students and prospective students to tour the 20,460 square-foot facility, where recent renovations included a new science lab, new student lounge areas, a multi-purpose conference room and a faculty workroom. In addition, all classrooms have been updated to reflect a state-of-the-art learning environment.

The Carl Sandburg College men’s soccer team held a pair of leads but had to settle for a 2-2 draw with Oakton on Saturday afternoon at Kleine Field in Region IV Premiership play.
Cody Marquith (Knoxville, Ill./Knoxville) turned in a solid pitching performance, but Southeastern (Iowa) held off the Carl Sandburg College baseball team 5-2 on Wednesday at the William “Bill” Hungate Baseball/Softball Complex.
The Carl Sandburg College men’s and women’s basketball teams will held their second annual Navy & Red Scrimmage on Oct. 8 in John M. Lewis Gymnasium. The women’s intrasquad exhibition took place at 6 p.m., followed by the men’s scrimmage at 7 p.m.

College of DuPage has announced approximately 100 incoming students as Scholars Award recipients for fall 2023.
The awards fall into three categories: Presidential, a 64-semester hour full-tuition scholarship; Board of Trustees, which is $2,500 per year; and Deans, which is $1,000 per year. A recent event celebrated the achievements of the scholars and their decisions to attend COD.
“The College’s merit-based scholarship program for high school students provides significant financial assistance to high-achieving students beginning their college careers,” said COD President Dr. Brian Caputo. “It is a pleasure to welcome this latest class of scholars and their families to campus and I look forward to seeing them at COD this fall."

An estimated 1,200 registrants and nearly 3,000 guests gathered at College of DuPage’s Glen Ellyn campus to sample food from local vendors and raise funds for COD student scholarships at the 2018 Food Truck Rally and Sunset 5K.
Freshmen Jessica Lieber (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) and McKenna Weaver (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone) each posted double-doubles as the Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team opened its Arrowhead Conference schedule with a 60-36 victory over Illinois Valley on Tuesday night at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.
