Community Cash guide designed for 16 - 24 year olds as a work book to be carried around for duration of project
The Seed-to-Plate workshop series was designed to help students, staff, faculty, and community members build sustainable living skills in the areas of growing, preparing, and producing food through hands-on-experiences and learning journeys.
The workshops included practical skills such as seed saving, gardening basics, preserving, and fermentation as well as more in-depth training in the seed-to-plate approach to sustainable food systems and cultures.
GSRC staff, together with campus and community partners, delivered the workshops at various locations on or near the UC Irvine campus.

Before the growth of fishing and tourism industries, Fulton was a community of only about 200 settlers. Although Sunday schools met in town, residents had to travel to Rockport for worship services. In 1943, Frank Walker, visiting the area on a fishing trip, preached to a gathering in Fulton; he resigned a position in Fort Worth and moved here to organize a church. The next year, members erected a sanctuary. This nondenominational congregation grew and became a vital community institution. In 1983, members supplemented their old sanctuary with a new structure. Today, the church continues to serve Fulton, Rockport, Lamar, and the surrounding area. (2010) (Marker No. 16305)
Community Day was the culmination of BAMPFA's Grand Opening Week. The museum doors were thrown open for twelve hours to mark this historic occasion. Visitors got a first look at our inaugural exhibition, Architecture of Life. The day included DJs spinning records, dance performanes, a weaving workshop, and other impromptu happenings throughout the building, organized by artist David Wilson. Photo: Joseph Driste.
A capacity crowd attended United Way's Annual Community Breakfast on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at the Poughkeepsie Grand. The event honored two community champions, Dr. Pamela Edington, President, Dutchess Community College (DCC), and Dr. Kristine Young, President, SUNY Orange, as well as two Champion Nonprofits, Nicole Fenichel-Hewitt, The Art Effect and Linda Muller, Cornerstone Family Healthcare. In addition there was a surprise performance by students in the DCC Performing Arts Associate in Science Degree Program - Melissa Ansari, Hailey Gallinari, Chloe Kramer, Benjamin Simonetty, Jonah Woodcock and Samantha Vega and a surprise check presentation by Key Bank Market Director David Lewing for scholarships at the two colleges. Over 50 interested young people came to meet with 30 seasoned community league executives in a session facilitated by the Edmonton Next Generation Special Projects Committee and the EFCL.
Discussion was focused around helping leagues become more welcoming and more engaged with people under 40 - a target demographic identified by leagues last year.
