By J R Pearson, 1891. On 15th Oct 2013 numbers 13 and 14 Kirk Loan, were badly damaged by a fire which started in No 13 and quickly spread through the roof space to No 14. No 13 ‘The Old Library’ is privately owned while No 14 is owned by The Public Hall Company and the home of Corstorphine Youth and Community Centre. A total of ten pumps, two ladders and 70 firefighters were sent to blaze.
The Public Hall Company was formed with the aim of building a hall, a library and a recreation space. Shares were sold for £1.00 each and the site on the corner of Kirk Loan was purchased. Today there are the majority of shares are held by The Lodge, Corstorphine Literary and Geographical Society and Corstorphine Bowling Club.
The Public Hall Company who own 14 Kirk Loan have apparently reached an agreement with the insurance company. These things move far too slowly.

This inviting public space at the Kendall "T" station in Cambridge combines low-impact architecture, connecting walkways, and short- and long-range views, all complemented by the relaxed, dappled shade of thoughful plantings. Plants are integral to this built environment, helping to connect the different domains of use.Notice how many kinds of transportation are visible here, walking, biking, cars, public, and tourism. I think spaces like this build community. What's your opinion?
Spiral Q's 23rd annual Peoplehood Parade offers people of every neighborhood to represent their work and their communities to walk in solidarity with each other as they celebrate those living and working at the forefront of fighting against oppression and discrimination.

The village is now occupied by an arab nomadic community (Mahammid tribe) just returned after nine years displaced in several camps in South Darfur.
