What a surprise yesterday morning! Many collembola were out but a specimen caught my eye !! it was much bigger and bigger than the other Fasciomsonithurus but maybe that red-eyed collembola is not one ... a Sminthurus?
I could observe two specimens, this big specimen is a male! and he is huge !!!
Frans is this albino collembole? or a new species?
I did not find a species like him on the site.
If we look in comparison with the Fasciosminthrus, the lateral and rear drawings are not similar The eyes are much bigger also

Essex is underway as part of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) conducting integrated training with the 11th MEU off the coast of southern California.
