The new #LEGO #DOTS are #AMAZING & with so much more #durability and #clutchpower than I imagined (but certainly hoped for!)

Thank you @BrickmasterAmy and the @LEGO team for designing a cool new #WearableLEGO line, I am so excited to build more #MOCs with these sweet bracelets!

Special thanks to my daughter for helping me with the photos and video!!! She loves the DOTS, too and we have been using them as communicators and wearing them all day!

If you only visit one place in Burgos make it the Cathedral. It is the best example along the Camino of medieval genres and art styles. If you take your Pilgrim’s Passport you can avail of the 50% discount entrance fee for pilgrims.

It is surprising that the Gothic style of Burgos Cathedral is coherent, as it was constructed over a period of three hundred years. The cathedral was founded by Fernando III on 20th July 1221 and was not consecrated until 1260. However the first mass was celebrated in 1230, mainly due to the fund raising and building management of Bishop Mauricio. The bishop died in 1238 before even the ceilings were closed, but the style of the building was his vision which lived on.

West Facade: the three portals in the facade are late 17th century, and have been described as mutilation of the building, this though did not affect the story and impression the facade communicated. The eight kings in the middle arcade reminded people of the link between royalty and divine power. However directly above the kings arcade is the statue of the Virgin, by Juan de Colonia, illustrating how even the monarchy were inferior to the church. The central door was for royalty when they entered in a procession. The four statues level with the top of the door are of Bishop Asterio, Bishop Asterio, Alfonso VI, and Fernando III.

South Facade: this is the main tourist entrance. The statue between the door is Bishop Mauricio, above are the 12 Apostles, with Christ in Majesty presiding over all, surrounded by scribes passing on the word of God.

The north portal again has Christ in Majesty, this time being beseeched by the Virgin and St John interceding for humanity. This theme continues with images of divine judgement, the weighing of souls, and sinners being punished.

The interior of the cathedral is massive and the layout map paid for by your entrance fee will be helpful. The cruciform floor plan, the shape of a crucifix, is 106 meters long. The three naves are separated by massive columns and are surrounded by fifteen chapels, the cloisters, and the Bishop’s Palace. You could easily spend a day exploring the inside of the cathedral. The main altar retable, dates from 1562, is Renaissance and narrates the life of the Virgin. The tomb of El Cid and his wife are in the transept after being re-interred in 1921 for a second time. The choir is 16th century with Renaissance lateral stalls. At the end of the stalls is the bishop’s throne, and in the centre of the choir is the 13th century tomb of Bishop Mauricio.

A debatable topic never discussed heretofore.

Warning: Generalizations to follow:

I would contend that men and women see humour in very different ways. Who are the best stand up comedians? Men. Who has the silliest sense of humour? Women. Men can tell you a great joke. Women can do something so silly that you're left with no choice but to smile.

Let's define silly, shall we? When I look up the word in the dictionary, these are some of the words used: happy, innocent, pitiable, feeble, foolish, absurd, lacking good sense. This is where, I believe, many people trip up and dismiss silliness as a negative display of communication.

Laughter is a bond strengthening tool. It's a fact : ) Women often communicate things on a level most men do not understand. What if silliness with the intent to elicit laughter was just good sense when creating a bond between two or more people?

I'd like to now provide examples of women on Flickr who exhibit the best form of silliness in all its glory. Note that these women have drawn many contacts to them through the use of their silly talent:

ENGLISH

Located near the highest point of the Muntanyes de Prades range, of which region it is the capital, the ‘red town’ of Prades, which gets its name from the characteristic red stone of the area, is located in the middle of a plateau at an altitude of 940 m, in a densely forested part of the comarca (roughly equivalent to a county) of Baix Camp in the province of Tarragona.

In the surroundings there are traces of prehistoric settlement, some neolithic, and also of Iberian/Pre Roman times. There is as yet no clear historical record until the time of the Reconquista (the reconquest by Christian forces of territory formerly under Saracen control) in the 1150s. At that time, these mountains were of key strategic importance and served as a defence line against the Saracens who had settled in the area around Siurana. Once Lleida and Tortosa fell to the Christian forces, Siurana was besieged and finally conquered, the Saracens were banished and the territory then settled by the victors. The political centre of gravity of the range then moved from Siurana to Prades, which received its township charter in 1159.

It is important to remember the Counts of Prades were always prominent in matters of internal politics and in the campaigns of expansion across the Mediterranean, and that in the grandest age of the County, as direct descendants of the King, they ranked high amongst the Catalan nobility. Their aristocratic power lasted until Mendizabal’s land disentailment law of 1835 and the title of Count of Prades is still preserved in the line of the Dukes of Medinaceli.

During the War of Separation (also known as the war of the Segadors) in the 17th century, in which Catalonia fought against Spain, the county of Prades was an important war zone. As a result of that war, parts of the walls and the castle were destroyed.

CASTELLANO

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Put out my trusty old Nikon D700 & the Nikon 24-85 and took some shots at our trainstation.

Though I have a D750 and some newer Fuji DSLM's with more megapixel, tins and whistles, I still love the vibe and "magic" of the D700's pictures.

Uses wide ST5 lid from Fed Surplus with spacers made from brass tubing. Stapleton hinge replaced with tubing drilled and tapped to 8-32 for larger screws as on originals.

so this image means nothing to you. Yet it means everything to me. You see, my nonverbal daughter described the world she sees using the gel stickies. For the 1st time. The nifty fifty does not compress the scene, unfortunately, so let me describe. The shape of bridge (tiny little thing on the left) is replicated using dark gels. Then the waves are replicated with light dots and beneath are dots for ships that keep passing. (The image I'm seeing on flickr differs from my file in a sense of oversharpnes/overstructure; sorry, no time to deal with this).

I got so many kind messages and request for contacts these days.

some people I might know for a while but we didn't communicate with each other, and others I didn't know but we meet each other up at that time.

today i "met" one of my flickr friends (hello there nicky :-) ) and like i always just talk and talk i ended up just doing nothing else on this afternoon. but its fun to know that behind these photos there are real people and they are just like you..

this is a very small world indeed and in times like these (with net and satellite tv) i wonder how is it so difficult to nations and people to communicate between each other. we have all the tools we just need the will to make a real change and get out there...

*go and check nicky's stream she's very cool.

This is in response to iJustine's show-off. But I have the added benefit of being able to say that my iPhone's name *is* Communicator.

Too bad this picture isn't completely symmetric.

Starting in the very first issue, the Gold Key artists confused communicators with tricorders. You can't really blame them I guess, the tricorder was a more realistically large piece of equipment (a handheld phone was nearly unimaginable in 1968!). Plus it had that screen for video communication.
