On 13 November 2024, the UN Resident Coordinator in Thailand convened 59 University Presidents and their representatives under the Sustainable University Network (SUN Network) and Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT), to sign the Statement of Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of Thailand witnessed the signing ceremony and expressed support for the commitment made to enhance greening higher education and the outcomes of the Summit of the Future, as well as to promote the role of young people as active agents of change.
Emphasising the significant milestone made by 59 signatory universities across Thailand, the panel discussion on 'Universities for Tomorrow: Greening Higher Education' further noted the crucial role of universities in advancing the SDGs, partnerships for impact, along with the recognition of youth leadership in addressing sustainable development challenges.
The event was also attended by representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Global Compact Network Thailand, and university-level Model UN clubs.

First presented to ministers and attendees of the U.S. Egypt Business Summit in late 2014, #Activ8Egypt emphasizes Marriott International’s commitment to work with partners to revive tourism in Egypt, focusing on driving significant incremental revenues through three strategic pillars –local, GCC and international inbound tourism.
The company has had a long-standing history of supporting Egypt’s vibrant tourism sector, dating back to its very first hotel in Africa, the Cairo Marriot. During recent times, which saw a slowdown of the country’s tourisms sector, Marriott International maintained staff levels at all its properties, reaffirming its commitment to the country and along with it, the belief in it’s competitive edge over other major touristic and investment destinations.
The #Activ8Egypt campaign consolidates this long-standing support in a uniquely modern way. The campaign’s hashtag addresses the young dynamic society that is helping to shape Egypt’s future while the logo of the campaign features the word MISR, which is how Egypt is pronounced in Arabic. The campaign was built using these letters as they each represent words that can describe Egypt’s tourism offer: Magnificent, Inviting, Sensational and Rewarding.

Orange the World 2023 - Morocco
Bank Al-Maghrib demonstrated its ongoing commitment to the fight against gender-based violence, symbolized by the illumination in orange of the building housing its head office in Rabat, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual campaign that begins on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs through International Human Rights Day on 10 December.
Led by civil society, the campaign is supported by the United Nations through the Secretary General’s UNiTE by 2030 to End Violence against Women initiative. In 2023 we are asking governments, institutions, and citizens to show us how much the world cares about ending violence against women and girls under the theme "UNITE! Invest to prevent violence against women and girls".

First Minister announces support for disabled children’s charity.
A charity that provides support to disabled children and young people, and their families, is set to receive up to £2 million of future funding.
First Minister Humza Yousaf made the commitment during a visit to The Yard's head office in Edinburgh where he met children and their families who benefit from the charity and saw the adventure play facilities offered by the centre.

Protesters in Peru demand that China step up its commitment on global AIDS and pledge one billion dollars to Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria.
Since the inception of the Global Fund, China has contributed $25 million, while countries with far smaller economies, such as Japan and Germany, have contributed a combined total of $3.5 billion. AHF will run an advocacy ad in the Wall Street Journal’s Asia edition urging increased Chinese support for the Fund.

On February 6, 2025, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan collectively affirmed their commitment to advancing gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, as outlined in the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA), during a high-level meeting in Astana, Kazakhstan. The pledge was formalized through a joint statement.
The event, titled “Five Years to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: Central Asia Perspectives on the 30th Anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 5,” was organized by UN Women and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It brought together nearly 70 high-level officials from parliaments and ministries of foreign affairs, finance, and justice, along with representatives from civil society and women’s machineries, development partners, and the United Nations, to discuss Central Asia’s progress in promoting gender equality and to outline concrete actions in light of the 30th commemoration of the BPfA.
The meeting was held in the lead-up to the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) - scheduled from 10 to 21 March 2025 - which will focus on reviewing the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
