This image is from a series I took of a set of African figurines that my mother owns called Ebony Visions. The idea first came to me when I took a picture of one called Rose Beauty for a photography class. My peers were very excited and had nothing but good things to say and one word that kept coming up was "uncanny". So with this series I wanted to capture these figurines as if they were real people.

Since 2005, we transform Berlin's landmarks, buildings, places and hotspots during the month October in a magical world full of light art, creative projections, unique video mappings and fascinating illuminations. Over 2 million national and international visitors as well as over 1 billion media contacts worldwide account for the success of this event and stand for the successful tourism concept for the city of Berlin. The festival has become one of the most famous art and cultural events in Germany. Only through the participation of many partners, it is possible to transform the capital into a stage for light art. That is why many individuals, companies, institutions and artists get involved with the Festival of Lights. From the start, the festival has been based on a high degree of social commitment and entrepreneurship. Inspired by many requests, we also offer other cities our services, our know-how and experience. Cities, countries or regions can host an entire festival or individual show cases.
