Army Materiel Command held a “Touchdown Ceremony” June 15, 2011 at their new Headquarters on Martin Road, Redstone Arsenal, AL. The 400,000 square foot facility will house some 1,750 AMC and US Army Security Assistance Command employees.

Lt. Gen. Rick Lynch., Commander, Installation Management Command, will host a flag uncasing ceremony for the U.S. Army Installation Management Command Oct. 5, 2010 at 10 a.m. in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Joseph W. Westphal, Under Secretary of the United States Army, will be the guest speaker.

The ceremony represents the presence of the installation management community and the assumption of the command's authority in San Antonio. The installation management community includes the U.S. Army Installation Management Command Headquarters and two major subordinate commands: U.S. Army Environmental Command and the Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command.

IMCOM temporarily occupies leased space in northeastern San Antonio until the new IMCOM Headquarters Building on Fort Sam Houston is completed in October 2011.

Uncasing the flag exemplifies how IMCOM, headquartered in "Military City USA," is transforming to make Army installations the Army's Home.

Warrior Country leaders host the Area I Command Information Exchange at Camp Casey's Warriors Club July 28. These quarterly meetings have replaced the traditional town hall that tended to brief what services are provided by the garrison while the CIE format is designed to address high-impact issues like the eventual closing of Casey Elementary School, availability of school bus monitors and changes to command sponsorship. The next Command Information Exchange is scheduled for Oct. 29 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Warriors Club.

Bomber Command Memorial Unveiling Ceremony, Green Park, London, 28 June 2012. The battle of Britain Memorial Flight's Lancaster bomber flew over and dropped a million poppies (paper replicas, not real flowers) which drifted across Green Park and the memorial (and much further beyond, apparently). Lots of the poppies were collected and later offered to veterans and their families as souvenirs of the day.

Thomas Birch’s Engagement between the ‘United States’ and the ‘Macedonian’ (1813) captures a defining moment in the War of 1812, when the young American navy showcased its strength against the formidable British fleet. This painting depicts the USS United States, commanded by Stephen Decatur, decisively defeating and capturing the British ship Macedonian after a thirty-minute battle near the Portuguese island of Madeira. The victory highlighted American naval prowess and bolstered national pride during a time of intense conflict.

Thomas Birch’s Engagement between the ‘Constitution’ and the ‘Guerrière’ (1813) illustrates one of the most celebrated victories of the War of 1812. The painting portrays the USS Constitution battling the British Guerrière, with smoke from the cannons framing jubilant American sailors and their British adversaries. This historic clash earned the Constitution its enduring nickname “Old Ironsides,” inspired by a British sailor’s observation that cannonballs appeared to bounce off the ship’s sturdy hull. The work commemorates a pivotal event that solidified the USS Constitution’s legendary status in American naval history.

The Museum of Fine Arts was founded in 1870 and relocated to its current neoclassical building designed by architect Guy Lowell at 465 Huntington Avenue in 1909. The museum's vast collection spans over 500,000 works of art, with highlights including ancient Egyptian artifacts, 18th- and 19th-century American art, French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masterpieces, and a renowned collection of Asian art. Originally located in a Gothic Revival building in Copley Square, much of the museum’s early collection came from the Boston Athenaeum Art Gallery. Over the years, the museum expanded significantly, adding the Decorative Arts Wing in 1968, the Norman Jean Calderwood Garden Court and Terrace in 1997, and a modern Americas Wing in the mid-2000s designed by Foster and Partners.

In the Second World War, Bentley Priory was the headquarters of RAF Fighter Command, and it remained in RAF hands in various roles until 2008.
