CommScope has introduced new 3.5 GHz-capable antennas for macro and small cell densification to help increase network capacity and migration to 5G. Customers deploying newly licensed spectrum bands will be able to increase capacity in existing LTE networks and prepare for future 5G networks with CommScope’s 3.5 GHz-capable base station antennas.

The “water bugs” in the kitchen and by the toilet are sensors that detect flooding. They will notify building management and engage the ceiling strobes. Strobes also help the tenants when someone is at the door or are trying to notify them. The water bugs are connected by CommScope’s SYSTIMAX® GigaSPEED XL® solution, an industry-leading Category 6 U/UTP solution that transmits reliable voice, data and video.

CommScope was honored with a plaque in the Alder Springs Deaf and Blind Community in Morganton, N.C. Alder Springs is an independent non-profit residential community designed for the unique needs of deaf and blind seniors located near the North Carolina School for the Deaf (NCSD). It was developed and is owned by the NCSD at Morganton Foundation, Inc., a private supporting organization, and is funded entirely by private donations, grants and loans. The first building, containing 21 one- and two-bedroom apartments, held its official open house on May 6, 2018. Data throughout the complex is carried over CommScope’s SYSTIMAX GigaSPEED XL solution, an industry-leading Category 6 U/UTP solution that transmits reliable voice, data and video. GigaSPEED XL was deployed in the Community and connects innovative sensing technology for those without sight or hearing, for example an alert to notify a resident of puddling water on the kitchen or bathroom floor. The GigaSPEED XL solution also supports the facility’s intelligent lighting technology.

Stadiums have structural challenges for connectivity, but they also provide tremendous opportunity once that connectivity is in place. Concession marketing can be connected to drive fans to areas with the most food. HD cameras with facial recognition can provide security during the event and ability to search the crowd, in case of a threatening situation. This means higher bandwidth to support the tidal wave of internet use that occurs at a game.

While a well-designed data center can feature network security to prevent attacks from outside, it can also prevent wireless signals from entering the building. This is especially a concern for tenants in a multi tenant data center or visiting IT contractors.

All of this can be avoided with flexible in-building wireless (IBW) solutions that are technology agnostic and frequency adaptive. These systems can allow you, your tenants and consultants to connect to their wireless networks immediately, no matter how deep into the data center they go—without forcing the caller through multiple security checks and exit and re-enter the building. Along with the structured cabling infrastructure, we offer a comprehensive portfolio of IBW technology.
