Blackpool's brand new Comedy Carpet sits in the shadow of the world famous Blackpool Tower – and it’s one of the largest pieces of public art ever commissioned in the UK. Artist Gordon Young, in association with leading design agency Why Not Associates, created the Blackpool Comedy Carpet. 850 writers and comedians are represented on the Comedy Carpet - with letters ranging in size from a few centimetres to almost a metre tall so that the laughs can be enjoyed from all sides and from both close up and at height from the Tower.

OH GOD AARON! Once again he is not mine! LOLZ ROFL!

Danny Kallas sifting through his notes for a 5 minute set.

So there I am, on the couch with my maitresse, trying to create a romantic atmosphere.

Alas, no peace for the wicked! We are disturbed by:

-a thief,

-the wife of the thief (who likes to ring her husband when he is out working),

-my own wife,

-my wife’s lover.

As you will understand: we are talking about a farcical comedy. The past months I found out how hard it is to do comedy. Pace and timing are essential. We worked hard, we sweated, we cursed, we almost despaired but in the end we pulled it off! We entertained a crowd of 500 people for an hour, kept their attention and got a lot of laughs. And afterwards: praise and real enthusiasm. It may not have High Art but we surely kicked ass!!

Built for a comedy contest held on LUGPol. The task was to build a scene from a Polish comedy. I chose the classic Sami Swoi.

Two neighbors are fighting by the fence and, in a blind rage, Pawlak cuts his own shirts and Kargul breaks his own pots. See this classic scene here

Orgy

Director: Wiktor Rubin

It is not a tale of the body, the pleasure, and the delight, but a theatre study of Power. The monotonous and systematic chain of cruelty and violence that a man and a woman deal to each other is meant to illustrate the principle of supremacy over another human. Violence is the essence of power. In this play, Wiktor Rubin changes the foundations of his directing style, leaving the collages of alterations and formulas aside. He provokes a performance that should disrupt the spectators’ sense of security, and test the mechanisms of linguistic, carnal, and situational enthrallment. We do not understand what Power is until we are wronged, until we have realised how hurt we have been. Thus, every action of the two actors within the space of the play must be aimed not only against each other but also against the spectators. The reactions of the onlookers are filmed and shown on screens; actors take away women’s handbags and comment upon their contents; they search the men, and lock some in boxes on stage, forcing them into mock sexual intercourses. Eroticism becomes lined with fear, intimacy is exposed to the public eye. The Gdańsk staging evokes powerful emotions in an experiment that may be rejected, yet in which one may also get lost.

Another lens test...This time it's the Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM.

Acquired this lens after having read Myla Kent's article, found at JPG Magazine.

This is a great weekly comedy night which supports women in comedy. A really fun night and a really good idea!

About FXX’s The League

To be a fan of FXX’s THE LEAGUE, you don't need to know much about fantasy football, or sports at all. You just need to have friends that you hate. The ensemble comedy follows a group of old friends in a fantasy football league who care very deeply … about beating each other for bragging rights. The League was created by the husband-and-wife team of Jeff Schaffer (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld) and Jackie Marcus Schaffer (Disturbia, Eurotrip) who serve as executive producers and directors.

The League features an ensemble cast of rising actors/comedians. Stephen Rannazzisi (Breaking Dad) is “Kevin,” a happily married father and commissioner of the league. Katie Aselton (The Sea of Trees) plays “Jenny,” Kevin’s wife and his better half - especially when it comes to Fantasy Football. Mark Duplass (Togetherness) plays “Pete,” the perennial league champ who is struggling to become an adult. Jon Lajoie (Let's Be Cops) is “Taco,” Kevin’s little brother, a part-time musician and full-time stoner with little interest in fantasy other than hanging with his buddies (whom he struggles to remember). Nick Kroll (Kroll Show) plays “Ruxin,” who believes he is the smartest of the group but can't figure out how exactly the other guys are screwing him over. “Andre,” played by Paul Scheer (Fresh Off the Boat), has continued to be the punching bag of the group since their high school days – a fact that hasn’t changed despite the fact he is now a successful plastic surgeon. www.facebook.com/theleagueFXX www.twitter.com/theleaguefx www.fxx.com/theleague

About FXX’s You’re the Worst

An original comedy from writer and executive producer Stephen Falk, YOU’RE THE WORST puts a dark twist on the romantic comedy genre. Narcissistic, brash, and self-destructive “Jimmy Shive-Overly,” played by Chris Geere (The Spa), thinks all relationships are doomed. Cynical, people-pleasing, and stubborn “Gretchen Cutler,” played by Aya Cash (The Wolf of Wall Street), knows that relationships aren't for her. So when they meet at a wedding, it's only natural that the two of them go home together and, despite their better judgment, begin to find themselves falling for each other. After a whirlwind courtship that culminates in Gretchen burning her apartment down with a faulty “back massager,” she and Jimmy are forced to take their relationship to the next level by moving in together (which neither of them are particularly thrilled about).

Rounding out the cast is Desmin Borges (The Good Wife), who plays “Edgar Quintero,” Jimmy’s once homeless, war veteran roommate; and Kether Donohue (The Carrie Diaries) as “Lindsay Jillian,” Gretchen’s best friend and former partner in crime who’s now struggling to find her identity after being dumped by her “lame, soft” husband. You're The Worst is a modern look at love and happiness told through the eyes of two people who haven't been very successful with either. It's the story of Gretchen and Jimmy, fear, heartbreak, romance, sex, food, Los Angeles, friendship, and the fact that sometimes the worst people make the best partners. You’re The Worst is produced by FX Productions.
