A number of epidemiologic studies have investigated whether people with higher vitamin D intakes
or higher blood levels of vitamin D have lower risks of colon cancers. The chances of developing colon cancer decline about 19 percent in women and 7 percent in men for every incremental increase in blood vitamin D levels, the researchers found.

Van Duyn Elementary School goes blue for Dress in Blue Day on March 2, 2012.
"Our school corporation, South Vermillion Community Schools in Clinton, Indiana, participated in Dress In Blue Day by purchasing shirts in honor of a staff member's husband who recently passed away from colon cancer and also as part of our corporations wellness program. Proceeds from the sale of the shirts will be donated to the Colon Cancer Alliance. Student Council members made posters advertising the event, and we also had many students wearing blue."

Enrollment Management, Colleges Against Cancer, Bearkat One and the Bursar Office at Sam Houston State University participated in Dress in Blue Day 2012. Staff paid $5.00 to wear jeans and helped raise $500.00 to help colon cancer patients in need through the CCA's Blue Note Fund.

Salon Exquisite in Philadelphia celebrated Dress in Blue Day on March 2, 2012. Immunotherapy is still being tested extensively in clinical trials, which are research studies that test new approaches to treatment. It is not yet an established treatment for early-stage breast cancer.
