King Elementary held their first King Night of the year on Thursday, September 25. The event was a combination of curriculum presentations and student performances as part of the school's art integration that are being implemented in art, music and PE classes this year.

JAPANESE VINTAGE GUITAR
“This one is a very old Japanese vintage guitar and I don’t even know what brand it is. It’s like the guitars that are used often by garage rock bands. As you can see, the body of the guitar kind of looks weird and is very light in weight. It has a unique sound of its own, a very low-fi sound. I used this one a lot when I recorded songs for Day Tripper. This is why I have so many guitars. I’ve always been against the idea of many musicians who have said that making a sound is less important than the music they play. You can never use a hard rock type of guitar like an Ibanez or a Jackson to play music like the Beatles. The sounds won’t be the same no matter how much skill you have as a musician.”

Tate Britain: The Chapman Family Collection comprises thirty-four wooden carvings, displayed on plinths and dramatically illuminated by pools of light in a darkened room. The work was first exhibited in 2002 at White Cube gallery, London, where the press release for the show heralded it as an extraordinary collection of rare ethnographic and reliquary fetish objects from the former colonial regions of Camgib, Seirf and Ekoc, which the artists Jake and Dinos Chapman’s family had amassed over seventy years. The mode of presentation is typical of any Western ethnographic museum.

These photos were taken with a Nikon F6 and Nikkor 24-120 f4. In hindsight, I should've used my Nikon Micro-NIKKOR 55mm f/2.8. The overall green cast is from the curtain that was the backdrop for these photos and not a filter or effect.
Some trays that I have found out and about, looking for just this sort of thing. The yellow one is going to be turned into a magnetic memo board in my work room.
The stolen LP collection is much larger, but these are the ones I photographed to remind myself what I wanted to use in an exhibit at Chapman University next year.
Sometime between 10:30 a.m. July 8 and 10:30 a.m. July 9, 2016, someone broke into my storage unit in Costa Mesa and stole much of the Tiki and Oceanic material I've been collecting over the years. This photo depicts some of the stolen goods.
