Macro Mondays: Collection

Poor little road kill creatures given a purpose: educating Pre-Schoolers. Also added to the iNaturalist project "Australia's Untold Roadtoll".

Antechinus (carnivorous Marsupial Mouse) & baby Crocodile (from Kakadu; 7cm from snout to back of eye socket) plus a couple of Moccona coffee jar lids with a legless lizard and another little mammal skull.

Probably started back in the 1980s when our boys were young. We brought back the crocodile skull from Kakadu, a big horned cow skull from the Northern Territory and some goat skulls from the back of Bourke.

For the "Looking close... on Friday!" Group.

Collections 1 & 2 created with 20 Wombo renderings and blended with Pixelmator Pro. Originally planned to be one final image, I ended up cutting it in half as it was so long,

Prompts: Cute rusty metal and wood robots, dolls, books, lined up on splintered rough old dark wood shelf, dark rusty shadowed background, side lighting, ultra realistic details, 3D, 4K

Style: The City

Wombo gave me so many fun variations with which to work for these creations. It was hard to choose which ones to use, which is why the project ended up as 2 images.

Enjoy looking at the shelves of someone's past youth. Thank you for all your faves, comments and invitations!

"At my age flowers scare me." - George Burns

A very busy day to end my work week, but having only worked three days this week I'm not going to complain.

Had a busy evening too and didn't get a lot of photography time so I just snapped a couple photos in the garden and called it a day.

Hope everyone has had a good Thursday.

It's much smaller now... I only have about 8 ponies left.

Collection of ceramic lucky charms representing various countries. These charms/figurines (“fèves” in French) were found in king cakes, also known as three kings’ cakes (“Galettes des rois” in French).

The English double decker bus is 2.4 cm long and 2.0 cm in height.

The Tower of Pisa is 3.4 cm in height and 1.3 cm broad (in its base section).

Magical collection with fantasy books, cauldron, potions, scrolls and cushions!

It is perhaps unsurprising that Brian would have a keen interest in shells - he has been collecting them for years from his many overseas expeditions in Malaysia, Australia and Papua New Guinea to name just a few. He loves admiring the grace and elegance in the amazing diversity of their colours and forms. This image shows him posing with four of his smallest shells - two cowries, an olive shell and a common cockle.

For Macro Mondays theme 'Collection'. Brian is a tiny juvenile snail, with a shell barely 7mm long, so the image spans about 7.2cm.

No snails were harmed in the making of this photograph.

By my count, there are 5 vintage tractors in here, along with one used-up golf cart and a possible lawn mower. As I was photographing the saddle (next picture), I said to the farmer, who was sitting nearby, "you got a lot of old tractors in there, it made a great picture." He laughed and said, "that's not all of them!" Evidently old tractors don't die, they just go to this guy's barn.

This shot took a little effort. Initially, the ISO was too high. But I wanted deep depth of field, so I had to keep the f/stop high. So I relied on my new monopod to give me some steadiness, and took the shutter speed down to 1/15th. That got the ISO down to a more manageable 7200. Finally, I passed it through Topaz Photo AI to deal with the noise and sharpening. It kinda came out as I envisioned it.

Collection of corks

The mice came out to play tonight!!

Here is my latest collection of the Kathy Flowers, hope you like them. I added the triangels again and all the models changed. It is like magic, I enjoy this part of the folding proces very much ;-)

The other fun part is that the flowers appear now on the other side. I didn't change the sequence of the images. You can judge for yourself, here you can see stage 1.

So the upper row is still the frontside and the lower one the backside. But now one might think it is the other way around, but as said before, this tessellation has two beautiful sides.

I'm very pleased with the outcome of the backside of the little Kathy Flower, in the top left corner. Which one is your favorite?

I didn't push all the flowers up, because I like the closed ones too and it gives a nice symmetrical effect.

Here you can see the first Kathy Flower, with all the flowers open and folded with different paper.

Not one pebble was moved to make this image. Taken at Bean Hollow State Beach in California.

Rocks and driftwood everywhere

There is more to this collection and every piece in a shade of some color but I chose to bring them in black and white
