3/9/11 This corral had White-faced Magpie-Jay, another colorfest of Orange Breasted, Lazuli, and Blue Buntings., Golden Cheeked Woodpeckers and brightly colored Orioles. The big discovery was a Black Chested Sparrow. This was across the road from a gate that had "Rancho Los Delgados" emblazoned upon it.

3/9/11 Juanito's Cafe, on the Zocalo, Ciudad Guzman. Steve has an IPod stored with birdsongs as one might suspect,but it may possibly contain the entire Tom Lehrer's song book. Here Steve plays "The Elements" for Peter Thayer. Steven thinks this may very well be the first time this has be done in Juanito's. I concur.

Leaving Comala for a day trip on an attempted trip to the end of the road - Laguna Maria. But we never could get a connection the last leg of the trip.

3/9/11 We continued down to Colima, checked in our hotel, Los Candiles, had a siesta, then had an afternoon birding the thorn scrub around ranches. Our first stop outside town was on this bridge.

3/9/11 The monument looks much better at a distance, say ,from Colima, down below. Me, Constance in the red sweater and Steven possibly making some of his guacamole (muy sabroso!).

3/9/11 This monument atop a hill overlooking Colima is a part of a "City Park" favored by joggers and hikers. The very top is also suitable for paraglide sailing. It was our intent to get there by dusk and watch for bats, then nighthawks and owls. We got bats and a Buff collared nightjar. We heard the Owl, some may have seen a glimpse.
