The Crystal Ice and Cold Storage Building, constructed in 1925, originally served as an ice house, offering cold storage and selling ice for household use. It ceased operations around 1940 as home refrigeration became more common. The restored building has been home to various businesses over the years.
Normally, I wouldn't care about a big concrete warehouse, but I like the combination of sea green and aqua.

One of the several wooden houses located on Grant Avenue, on the northeastern edge of Fulton Market District, right next to Kennedy Expressway. Wooden houses are rare this close to downtown (because of the Chicago Fire). I wonder how they came to be.

Fawad Azimi, Accelerating Sustainable Agriculture Program Manager for Regional Command North explains the cold storage facility near Mazar-e-Sharif for Afghan officials, international aid representatives and coalition service members before its Dec. 15 opening. The facility is able to hold more than 70 metric tons of produce for local Afghan farmers.
