This pedestrian crossing is near the MacEwan LRT Station. Providing ample warning for the approaching train. Now sure why this was designed this way. Edmonton is a city of signs, far too many in my opinion. The bike lanes are protected by a sea of signs that are a distraction for both drivers and cyclists.

Nice clutter among things...

Well, it may not be pretty but it is the only face I have.

Our Daily Challenge: C'est Moi.....

This has been sitting on my desktop long enough that I should either post it or delete it.

I'm still not sold on this as an interesting image.

The RS20 continues northbound on the Lower Montauk Branch, passing through a densely populated scene.

An open bathroom door, bra and purse, sock ... and me wishing you all happy holidays despite the mess! xoxo

how about we skip this week. can we do that? let's skip this week.

Probably not going to upload for awhile. Dead Space 2 comes out in ONE HOUR AND SEVEN MINUTES FROM THIS VERY MOMENT. So I'll be playing that until it's beaten. :) Haha.

By the way, that light is super low. Lol. Not even 6 feet from the ground. It was wierd. ha.

There's a lot of ikea in here at the moment: the klippan sofa, the stem pillow, the white blanket, the rug and the gold boxes on the coffee table. The table we made ourselves using the legs of a 60's coffee table and a new mdf top. The glittery pillow is from ZARA HOME.

WEEK 30 – Sam's Club Pre-Remodel, Set I

So, if you weren't able to spy the imminent doom present in my last upload: a poster hung in the department by May 2nd (if not earlier) condemned this Sam's Club's Digital Photo Center to shut down for good. Only once the remodel began on June 18th was the department officially decommissioned, however. And as a matter of fact, it was one of the first visible signs of the construction: the entire counter was wiped out very early on...

In this shot, the now-former photo center is seen through the lens of one of Sam's home security system displays, which are conveniently placed on shelves immediately across from the department. I just thought the view was neat :P Oh, and hopefully, no one at Sam's actually looks through these video feeds, because I was totally captured on them, haha!

The title to this photo, by the way, comes from an amusing line I heard over the intercom one time at the Stateline Road Goodwill and have never forgotten: “Attention y'all, yo Goodwill sto' be closin' soon” XD

(c) 2017 Retail Retell

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)

Found some of the new LBM Sets (but not the CMFS or the new JL sets, much to my chagrin) so I nabbed em.

Hawkgirl: Made her better, gave her Wolverine's mask.

Flamingo: I don't think I'll ever be satisfied with this guy, but this'll do for now. Gave him Egghead's . . . head, because I put Captain Hook's head on Egghead and laid my Crazy Quilt to rest (rip)

Penguin: Found an OG Penguin for cheap in a vinage toys 'n clutter store. Made this with him.

Hawkman: FIgured with Hawkgirl all spruced up, I may as well drag out the parts to my least favorite JLA member. Gave him Gladiator legs cause Ocean Master has his actual ones.

Crazy Quilt: Gave him much better arms.

Pretty simple stuff, but let me know what you think!

60015 passes Ardwick Junction with Pathfinder's "Lancheshire" railtour, 1Z25 1327 Weaste to Crewe on 5th March 2022. Shortly after the shot, the train was routed into Longsight Goods line for one of its many rare-track detours.

Ardwick is not the easiest of places to photograph through the clutter of OLE, huge PSR signs, signals, lineside ploes and God knows whatever else!

As with most Tiger tales, this one began at around 6 PM, at the fag-end of our safari. There was a call around 5:50 PM and then there was dust, dust and more dust as our driver Bomma zipped through the tracks to the location. On reaching, we noticed there was only one jeep who had seen her and she had walked around in the open grassland before she shied away into the bushes. Our driver told us that there was no pathway inside the bush and that she has to come out onto the road. As we relentlessly searched the bushes, I knew for sure she was sitting somewhere inside them, watching our every move. We were waiting at a junction and there was a pathway ahead from which we hoped she would cross over. But, there was no sign of her and we started the jeep and moved forward slowly. Bingo!!! There she sat! A little inside the pathway from which we were expecting her! Boy! Those Hypnotizing eyes made it difficult for me to focus; there was minimal light and the lack of VR on my lens gave me the nightmares! Gladly, I have managed this picture. She sat there for about 10 seconds before she shied away into deeper bush again. The jeep was happy! Everyone had made their images! We waited for some more time, as we knew for sure she wanted to cross the road. But it was 6:30 PM and we left her in peace. There was another jeep who had missed her as they were waiting at a distance. Later, we heard that she emerged from the same pathway just after we left. She crossed over, marked the trees, scratched her paws on the ground and walked away into the darkness. She had been watching us from inside and came out only after our jeep left. She had outsmarted us! After all, she was Gowri-Putri! I felt dumb and happy :)

We had a few hours to kill before turning in the rental car so my wife let me sneak in some plane spotting time. Another reason to keep her. We headed for Clutters Park until it got too cold and windy. We tried to park at the Proud Bird but the parking lot was chained shut so we just parked on a nearby side street that had a number of plane spotters there. Good people! I took these photos near LAX in November 2020.

That is what my wife call it! But each one has a unique character.

The good is having friends pararir together and have fun

session with friends

Ok, this encounter takes a bit of explaining. I saw him briefly over a week ago. He was busking in downtown Toronto and I was hurrying to class. It was such an unusual sight tha I asked him if I could grab a photo and he gave the ok. It was a somewhat cluttered photo and I wanted to do better but he was in the midst of performing and I was running late for class. I also suspected this young man might have an interesting story to tell and I hoped to catch him on my way home to explain my project and find out more about him. It was not to be. He was gone when my class finished. Meanwhile, I googled his website and discovered that my intuition about an interesting story was correct. His background was beyond amazing. I was even more motivated to meet him again and get a better photo along with a chance to speak with him. The next couple of times I looked for him downtown he wasn’t there. Today, on my third attempt to complete the encounter, there he was. Meet Takahito from Japan – also known as Duckman.

What I had learned from Takahto’s website that impressed me so much was his triumph over adversity and his positive spirit which I felt was a message that belonged in the Human Family project for its power to inspire. His story involves growing up in a single parent family with a mentally ill mother. He lost his two siblings at an early age and the unexpected loss of his onlyh friend. He suffered both emotional and physical abuse from mother and was removed from the home to live in an institution. He discovered the power of a smile to make others happy and adopted a false smile because it brought positive responses from others, something which in turn brought him pleasure. You can read Takahito’s version of this story on his website at www.tk-entertainer.com if you scroll to the bottom of the page. I was left with two feelings after finding out about Takahito. First, I was shocked that anyone would grow up in such disadvantaged circumstances. Second, I was filled with admiration that he found his own way to overcome such extreme adversity and not only survive, but thrive – through entertaining and bringing pleasure to others.

Today was my lucky day because when I exited the subway station downtown, I could hear the sound of Takahito’s plastic drumset. I had my camera ready and caught him between acts. I greeted him by name, reminded him that we had semi-met a week ago, and that after reading his website I was greatly impressed by his story and by his personal strength and positive energy. He shook my hand with his yellow-gloved duck hand and said “Thank you for reading it.” I quickly explained my Human Family project and said I had not had time to tell him about it last week, but would he participate? He said he would be glad to. I managed a couple of different poses, chosen by Takahito, and asked him where he got the strength to overcome his difficult childhood. He said “Making other people happy made me happy.” I asked what message or piece of advice he would like to share and he said “Have a bigger cup.” When I asked what he meant he said “It’s hard for me to explain.” I was concerned that our conversation was distracting him from performing for the lunch-hour crowd which is probably when he makes the most income. I did learn that he is in Canada on a 6 month visa so perhaps I will meet this remarkable young man again. I think we all have much to learn from his inspiring story. We exchanged contact information and he was delighted when I made my contribution to his fund and thanked me warmly.

This is my 549th submission to The Human Family Group on Flickr.

Follow-up:

Takahito was kind enough to write me an email explaining the meaning of his message “Get a bigger cup. It was so nice that I quote it in full.

"'Get a bigger cup'

I think everyone has a cup in their hearts. that can hold stress or sadness.

When I was a kid, the cup was really small. I cried a lot. I was stressed a lot.

then When I got over my past, I've got the biggest cup.

when the cup is full which means that you cannot do anything properly.

All I'm trying to do is absorbing the spilling water from people's cups^^

because my cup is the biggest. And if you can see the way of thinking that you have a cup, It would help people to be optimistic like me."

Rubbish washed up after big seas. Mimosa Rocks National Park, NSW AUS

Little bits of this and that stuck in a spider's web.

This is an image from my "Things That Go Unnoticed" photoshoot. I walked around my neighborhood very slowly, trying to see what I would usually walk right by. The way the light way shining like a spotlight into the bush caught my eye and I saw all of these tiny leaves stuck in the web.

View of our living room from where the cats usually sit near the heater. This is their view of us (when we sit at the table) (and if they were as tall as us). Our houses tend to be cluttered no matter where we live - thankfully we threw out or donated about 90% of our stuff before we moved to Japan...

Tigger is enjoying the table now that Bonkers is too weak to jump up to claim it for himself.
