Talk on monthly meetup for Bay Area IT Excutives presented by Mark Kadrich:

itexec.meetup.com/32/calendar/8374228/

From left to right:

Moderator: Bill McNee, CEO, Saugatuck Technology

Panelists: Hugh Miller, CTO, City of San Antonio

John Collier, Chief Technology Architect & Corporate VP, Walmart

Rich Roseman, VP IT & CIO, News Corp

Melissa Scheppele, CIO & VP Business Systems, Cooper Industries

John Bruggeman: "In the EDA space, we design the way we design because that's the way we design, and we've done it for years," he said. "We've learned how to solve the security challenges but we haven't learned to overcome cultural challenges. That puts the 3 year adoption at risk and makes 10 years more likely."

FWIW: I don't disagree on the 10 year figure for the majority of EDA. However, if the claims of 20x-30x performance gains for certain applications are true, I'm in agreement with the Nimbic investor that applications with such clear wins will see adoption in the shorter 2-3 year time frame.
