The Newbury Clock Tower - or Clock House - was first built in 1889 to celebrate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee two years earlier; in 1929 it is replaced with the present Clock House. Each of the three sides, above the clock face, displays a different date. This side shows V.R.I. 1887, the year of Queen Victoria's golden jubilee.
