Well I finally got back to my old self taking random photos at night. The train tracks in Clinton Township serve as a reminder of how many times a train stopped me from being on time to many places because a train came through whilst driving. What's interesting is that I think they also symbolize a long and challenging journey in my life, especially in college. It sure feels good being at the end of the long journey of school!

Clinton River at George George Park revisited 2021-07-10.

Shot hand-held with a Fujifilm X-Pro 1 (Full-spectrum converted by Kolari Vision). Slightly different composition than the original, pre-conversion shot with the same lens, camera and filter seen here: flic.kr/p/2aJctgV

The fourth full day of my Northeastern Pennsylvania (NEPA) visit with family & friends.

My photo buddy, Marty Straub (Parks Photos) and I visited Little Rocky Glen. Upon arrival, we determined that the water level was too high on Tunkhannock Creek for us to explore the banks (where everything narrows up towards the bridge at Lithia Valley Road).

Our 2nd photo adventure stop was Rice Dam in Jackson Township. We figured the water levels there might be elevated, but they were normal. (still a fun place to photograph; however high or low the water is).

My mother will be having hip replacement surgery this afternoon.

The poor dear is so nervous, as anyone would be .

Please include her in your prayers today.

Saturday we finally got a good dusting of snow here in Clinton Township. It sounds sick, but I’ve sort of been waiting for it to happen after many weeks of seeing mud and slush on the roads. I’ve been studying strobes more, but I can’t stand being cooped up for a long time. Sunday morning the skies were nice and clear and most importantly it wasn’t snowing so I didn’t have to worry about getting snow on my lens. I drove down to my parents place in Romeo looking for old dilapidated barns and ended up getting shoed away by people thinking I was some type of thief trying to steal barn wood. I even ended up scoping out the abandoned schoolhouse but then realized how trendy that had become. What was also great was that it was 17 degrees (F) out and I didn’t have my gloves. Thank god for my mom’s stash of gloves at home!

After getting frustrated with subjects that were unremarkable, I decided to head back home and take a walk in the Frank H. Budd park… the one no one goes to anymore LOL! It was really relaxing, despite the frigid temperature, walking and enjoying nature like I used to when I was a kid. The best way to describe it is almost like a feeling of liberation from working as an engineer all week and then burning away my time planning our budding photography business and pumping iron in the gym. Oh yea, I also saw I wild beaver for the first time! YESSSSSSSSSSSSS! I can’t wait to take some more winter shots!

… you guessed it. This is HDR! There is NO WAY you’ll get a result like this straight out of Photomatix though.

Making lemonade out of lemons. I drove 25 miles to Spruce Run in the middle of the night after researching a great spot for photos of the Milky Way. The weather report said clear skies and I confirmed it as I left. When I got there, it was snowing and mostly overcast. I guess you have to anticipate that sort of thing... I will try again in the future, but I managed to get a nice shot of a creek flowing into the reservoir as the cloud parted briefly.

Headed down to Canal Park again in the morning lookin’ for gold. Before I crossed the bridge I had to stop for this. After going through my routine with this photograph I had a huge smile on my face. I haven’t been this happy with a shot in a long time. I love it!

As eastbound CSX train X-116-03 heads through Indiana, my friend Jim Camarata and I decided to chase and film it. The location is at Alida, Indiana (former Monon crossing) along West Alida Road which runs literally right off the ballast of the former B&O. Train had CSX 7795 and appeared to be a repo train. Date was November 3rd, 2015 and was the end of our railfanning that day. I've wanted to do this again as it happens 30-40 times daily and is only 15 m minutes from my house.

Video starts at South 1100 West crossing and ends at the US 421 crossing. View at the end looks east towards Wellsboro.

CSX C40-8W #7795 was built by GE in August of 1992.

Ventured down to Canal Park yet again lookin’ for sweet gold baby! I was lucky enough to get some nice light a drab cloud cover swept in the rest of the day last Friday. I can’t say this is as dramatic as “Steal Away the Night” but it has its own type of flavor.

As my friends will tell you, I've been playing guitar a lot longer than shooting pictures - 13 years. This is a shot inside my Marshall 1969 Super Lead amp looking at the vacuum tubes. What are vacuum tubes? Well, they came before the transistor revolution! Look them up on google you science lovers!
