Environmental activists from MassPowerForward, Salem Alliance for the Environment (SAFE), UU Mass Action, 350 Mass North Shore Node, Mothers Out Front, Mass Climate Action, Sierra Club, and Citizens Climate Lobby North Shore gathered on the Salem, Mass Blaney Street Wharf to urge Gov. Charlie Baker to sign the climate bill sitting on his desk. Salem is set to lead in the renewable energy revolution as an Offshore Wind port servicing Cape Cod, the Gulf of Maine, and beyond in NJ, NY, RI, and CT. Gov. Baker remains a leader in renewable energy, but the climate bill is languishing on his desk.

Pat Gozemba, Co-Chair of SAFE, pleaded with the governor, “Governor Baker, on May 18, 2022, fewer than 3 months ago, you raised our hopes right on this pier by announcing your Economic Development Bill that you submitted to the Legislature calling for $45 million for the redevelopment of the Port of Salem. We thank you for that. But that gesture means nothing if you do not NOW sign our Climate Bill H.5060, An Act Driving Clean Energy and Offshore Wind.
