Extinction Rebellion Northside here in Melbourne held a Saturday morning empty shopping trolley protest highlighting that the #climatecrisis and extreme weather #ClimateDisasters are already reducing agricultural production, will cause food price scarcity and price increases and adding to the #CostOfLiving crisis.
Unless we rapidly reduce emissions, farm in ecological sustainable ways, stop all new #Fossifuel projects we are increasingly going to see Food Insecurity, empty shopping trolleys and our children going hungry. Yes, even in Australia that currently is a food exporter.
Rising temperatures are well known to reduce grain nutritional yield, while more extreme heat, droughts, intense storms and flooding will destroy crops. Increasing temperatures in winter will reduce the Winter Chill that some fruits require to fruit well.

Call on your Federal MP for a #ClimateTrigger in national environment laws, and for no new coal and gas. That’s what the science says.
