Summer holidays, taking the children up the hill to see the view from the camera obscura. Lovely day! This is where we live, and i love it.

I've been pretty absent from here lately. It's because I've been quite busy. This past weekend we went to San Diego. It was more of a working getaway because we were there to shoot a vow renewal ceremony. It was an elaborate vow renewal and seemed more like an actual wedding. Between Andrezza and myself, we shot in the neighborhood of 1500 pics! It was quite a bit of work, but we had fun and we got some great images. I'll be sure to share some as we have a chance to go thru them. While there we only had one day to explore around San Diego unfortunately. But we visited the beautiful coastline at a place called Sunset Cliffs. It was gorgeous, with tons of wildflowers, and was indeed the perfect place to catch the sunset. We could have spent so much time there taking pictures! As I have time, you can be sure that I'll be sharing more here.

The view across Brandy Bay to Gad Cliff as the mist draws in. Access to this whole area is limited and it aches to be explored!

Located on the Colorado Plateau in northern Arizona, Vermilion Cliffs National Monument includes the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness. The Monument borders Kaibab National Forest to the west and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area to the east.

This remote and unspoiled, 280,000-acre Monument is a geologic treasure, containing a variety of diverse landscapes from the Paria Plateau, Vermilion Cliffs, Coyote Buttes, and Paria Canyon. Elevations range from 3,100 to 7,100 feet.

Visitors will enjoy scenic views of towering cliffs and deep canyons. Paria Canyon offers an outstanding three to five day wilderness backpacking experience. The colorful swirls of cross-bedded sandstone in Coyote Buttes are an international hiking destination. There are also opportunities to view wildlife, including California condors. There are two developed campgrounds just outside the Monument: Stateline and White House. Dispersed camping is allowed outside the wilderness area in previously disturbed areas.

A permit is required for hiking in Coyote Buttes North (the Wave), Coyote Buttes South, and for overnight trips within Paria Canyon.

While everyone was enjoying the beautiful view and temples of Luluwato, I saw this man enjoying one of the greatest moments of his life. fishing from the top of a cliff is definitely great.

Hiking to and photographing the island's rocky headlands are not for the faint of heart but very rewarding

These flies were disturbed by me as I approached. I had no idea they were there. They were little oblong shaped flies. I did try to take a close up but it didn’t work. Does anyone know what they are - I have encountered this phenomenon before on the beach and cliffs in my travels. I can’t remember where, now. I’m sure someone in flickr knew what they were at that time. I seem to remember they are a particular kind of fly that is found in this habitat and behaves like this.

There are 7 photographers from a 'photo tour' looking back toward the cliffs. I had passed this group in the dark on my way to the cliffs. Their black van (visible in this image) was parked at the road side, and the photographers were setting up their tripods in the middle of the road! They seemed quite put out by having to move to let another car pass. They were almost invisible in the dark, black van, no lights or headlamps on. On other pre-dawn occasions, I have encountered bicyclists flying along this road at high speed, well above the speed limit actually.

I have seen this same tour group at this location over several years. I do not know who operates this tour, but this practice is quite dangerous. There is in fact a large off-road parking lot at exactly this location, with ample space to set up tripods. And there is plenty of space on the rocks to set up tripods!

This is a moment taken sometime after a hellish weekend of filming.

We all lived in Portland and drove up to a coastal town in Washington to film in the middle of the woods. After waking up around six in the morning, we get to work on the film... fighting the cold, rain, sleet, hail, snow, and wind. We wrap up around three AM after a day's worth of good progress and determination to get through all the equipment failures. The next day, we sleep in and head home.

...Only to realize that somehow, someway... 75% of the footage was corrupt and ultimately lost. To add insult to the injury, we realized we forgot a piece of equipment back in Washington. The next day, the director and I drove back up in defeat and exhaust.

This was taken after crossing the bridge from Astoria into Washington. The sun was setting and delivering to us some beautiful scenery. At least we could still find somethin' to smile about.

WOW what a place! I'd never heard of Slieve League until a couple of days ago, breathtaking views and dramatic scenery along the coast of Donegal.

Anyone for a slide? soft landing at the bottom :)

In life, we do things. Some, we wish we had never done and some we wish we could replay a million times. They make us who we are and, in the end, they shape and detail us. If we were to reserve them, we wouldn’t be the person we are today. So, just live. Make mistakes and have wonderful memories. But, never second guess who you are, where you’ve been and, most importantly, where you’re going. /S.L.M./

A mix of high powered lights and varying exposure lengths. I spent a couple of days in some local woods hunting mushrooms to photograph.

Large cliff fall in Bournemouth on Sunday. Luckily some eagle eyed council staff spotted the crakcs before the fall and cordoned the area off, and no one was hurt. The area still looks very unstable and you can see the Jon Egging memorial is now perilously close to the edge
