Shot from the pier yesterday, late afternoon.

The Roberto Clemente Bridge (once known as the 6th Street Bridge) is another of 3 "Sister Bridges" that are nearly identical that cross the Allegheny River in Pittsburgh, PA. (The other Bridges are the Andy Warhol Bridge or 7th Street and the Rachel Carson or 9th Street).

Opened in 1928.

Clemente was an all-time great Pittsburgh Pirates righ-fielder and PNC park the now home of the Pirates sits at the end of the bridge. At one time there was sentiment to name PNC Park after Clemente, but with $$ being the driving factor, the Pirates sold the naming rights of the stadium to PNC. The Bridge was renamed as a compromise.

A terrific day trip for many in southern California. Not crowded with tourist even in summer. A cute downtown across from the pier. Popular with surfers and art lovers and travel 20 minutes north to Laguna Beach. Often colder in summer then winter so bring a jacket along with the hat and swimsuit.

Soc. Clemente Menéres Lda. (Menéres Family Estate) is a family-owned Estate company since 1874, lying Northeast of Portugal. The company has thousands of hectares spread through eight municipalities in the Bragança district, and also owns the now extinct Monchique Convent and its outbuildings - which house the companys head-office and warehouses - in the marine promenade along the Douro River, in Porto, an area classified as World Heritage. The Estate is entirely run under certified Organic Farming (SATIVA PT BIO 03) which means we do not use any chemicals in our farming. And it is so because we believe that the fruits aromas, as well as the biodiversity and our health, become valued out of this process. We have about sixty associate members (all descendants from Clemente Menéres, the founder) and the company is managed by João Pedro Menéres.

Another shot from my San Clemente Pier visit. The sunset was spectacular and the water was perfect. I love catching the foam as my foreground.

More surf from San Clemente.

This is a photo of the san Clemente pier at sunrise.

We went early to San Clemente Beach, north of the pier, to walk on the beach and to watch the beach volleyballers. I like the bright red of the lifeguard jeep.
