Pond Cleanup

22 August 2014 -- 234/365

Lincoln, Rhode Island

I drove through Lincoln Woods State Park at lunch today, looking for potential photo opportunities. This scene presented itself as I drove past the small runoff pond along the ring road. The two in the boat are summer workers in the park. Here they're clearing any trash that found its way into the pond.

Post processing started with a neutral filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, boost white, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

A few days after the big storm, the water had dropped almost (but not quite) to the usual pond level. A man was out pressure-washing a wooden walkway. (Polliwog Park doubles as a flood control basin.)
