Photos taken for work of the cleanup effort underway at Hoover High School and Meredith Middle School after severe thunderstorm. Hail the size of golf balls and larger damaged the roof of the campus, causing water damage throughout the schools.

We were invited to participate in the river cleanup at this lovely park near our home. We'll be spending a lot more time here. We had no idea it was so beautiful. We picked up trash. It felt really good to be doing something so worthwhile in such an inspiring setting

These were used in the operation to clean up some of the contamination from the Chernobyl accident; they're still contaminated with radioactive particles, but not to the extent that they're dangerous to approach. Touching them would be inadvisable, though, as there are still dust particles on them, especially in areas that have been sheltered from the rain.

www.stvincent.edu | Our Bearcat athletic teams volunteered their time to help cleanup campus in anticipation for Homecoming and Fall Family Weekend.
More than 700 volunteers cleared the James River and its banks of trash and recyclables on Sept. 10, 2016. The cleanup covered 17 sites in the cities of Richmond, Newport News, Petersburg and Lynchburg, and Chesterfield, Henrico, Goochland, Powhatan, Appomattox, Buckingham, Charles City and Isle of Wight counties. This is the 17th year for the cleanup, which is organized by the James River Advisory Council, jrac-va.org.
The removal of five underground storage tanks began on September 9, 2009 and was completed on September 17, 2009.
Nearly $71 million in Recovery Act funds are putting Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) on track to wrap up several legacy environmental cleanup projects at two research reactors by September 2011.
The completion of the Recovery Act projects at BNL will end all EM legacy cleanup activities at the Lab.
This picture is of flooding in the community of Lyburn, which was caused as a direct result of the mountain-top removal process of valley fill, and Massey Energy's Bandmill Coal Company's failure to keep their sediment pond cleaned out, which they were written up for by the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection.
