During Wise's second tour of duty with the U.S. Army National Guard in Iraq, he had one day off and was reunited with his son, Tommy, who was serving in the U.S. Army. They had not seen each other in more than a year.

Baynanza is a celebration of Biscayne Bay and its significance as one of the most important ecological systems in South Florida. Traditionally celebrated throughout March and April, Baynanza culminates with the Biscayne Bay Cleanup Day, where thousands of volunteers join together to help clean up our bay’s shoreline. Since Baynanza's beginning in 1982, volunteers have helped remove over one million pounds of trash from Biscayne Bay.
The "horse followers" got a round of applause when they showed up during the annual 4th of July parade in Alameda CA.
Cleanup at Redondo Beach. Over 14,000 volunteers took part in Coastal Cleanup Day in Los Angeles County, cleaning up beaches, parks, alleys, creeks, highways and storm drains at 69 different sites. Over 300,000 pounds of debris and recyclables were removed by the various environmental organizations, community groups, families, local businesses, faith-based organizations and students that took part.
