A house with red and blue walls ,red oxide flooring and tiled roof is a common sight in Sirsi.

As you can see, footwear is not allowed inside the house. One can wear them when stepping out but once you come back, leaving the footwear out, washing hands and feet and only then entering the house is the common practice in South India. This rule applies to visitors and guests also. Even in cities, down south this practice is followed with slight modifications.

However, in North India, its a complete different story.

52 week self-portrait (13/52)

I'm only posting this if you promise not to judge me on the cleanliness of my window. I cleaned it several days ago, but between a large puppy and two children who never use the handle, that door sees a lot of action... LOL

Once again, comments containing large annoying group badges will be kindly deleted and blocked.

Well, today I had a spring cleaning virus. Yep, I cleaned my house like an alien had taken over my body. I always keep things CLEAN, but not always free of clutter. Today I cleaned out other closets, flipped mattresses, cleaned carpets, scrubbed floors on my hands and knees making sure all hidden dirt was washed up, and any other ridiculous act of cleanliness you can think of. But most of all I sorted through the clutter and found homes for things that have never had a home.

I am also a *single mom* this week. Mike is in Virginia looking at houses for the move in June. Since we're buying again to add to our rental property collection it seemed best to send him ahead so we can get the painfully slow mortgage process started before we even get there. I'm not a fan of living in hotels while waiting on the bank. Once this part of the process is over I can relax and enjoy the last 2 months we're here. I really do like this area and hope we retire here when Mike retires. I'm pretty sure this is where I'd like to call home.

Anyway, I'll be MIA most of this week since I'll be driving to Kentucky to spend the week and weekend with my family, and then Easter Sunday in Nashville with Mike's family. I'm SO looking forward to the week in Kentucky and spending some much needed time with my sisters. The one thing I've hated about the military lifestyle is being away from both of them. Jenny and I have a connection that is insanely close, even across the miles, but it's not the same to get a phone call or to make one when you feel something going on. Sissy, I miss you! See you on Wednesday!!

Wish me luck that I make the drive safe and sound. It will be me, the 2 girls, a dog, and a butterfly house with 4 chrysalises that haven't yet turned to butterflies. Not to mention that Alex hasn't been on a road trip since potty training a month ago. I hope we make it in one piece and with no peepee accidents in the car. Any thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated, LOL! (and yes, I'm packing Alex's training potty in the car *just in case* we have to stop on the side of the road...... If I pack it we won't need it, if I DON'T we absolutely will. I'm not tempting fate. Not this time.)

Tanzania Safari 2018, Serengeti National Park, Asilia Namiri Plains

Namiri Plains is located an hour and a half's drive due east from the game-rich core of the Serengeti – Seronera. The camp opened in July 2014 in an area that for more than 20 years had been closed to the public. Previously this region had exclusively been used for cheetah conservation and the number of big cats found here – especially lion prides and cheetahs – is astonishing.

Walking through the woods with the constant company of the rain, observing the cleanliness and colors enhanced by the light that filters through the branches, awakens my admiration, giant black pines that are found in some areas of the Gorbea Natural Park, the vigilants of the ancient beech trees that we will find next to streams and waterfalls.

Absence of eyesores. The Municipality of Barili, Cebu is different from some other cities and towns in terms of certain aspects of general cleanliness. Practically there is an absence of unsightly posters, advertisement billboards, graffiti and abandoned junks. Open space is utilized for the planting of fruits and forests trees.

Well-maintained drainage and sewerage system. Drainage system in the public market and slaughterhouse and other public places are properly maintained as can be observed during the assessment. There are no garbage or litters inside the canals. Free-flow water is evident during the evaluation. De-clogging of drainage canal is regular and done by maintenance men of municipal government. Store and market stall owners also help prevent the clogging of canals with solid wastes by maintaining the cleanliness of their immediate vicinity.

Presence of well-kept public toilets. Public toilets are generally clean. These can be found practically in all public places. Comfort rooms in the municipal hall were found to be very well maintained and the same is true with those at the market, where the surroundings were planted with ornamental plants. Water is provided in all these comfort rooms.

Clean public market/slaughterhouse. Public market is generally clean, free from garbage and litters. Fish and meat stalls are provided with water for flushing. Garbage receptacles are present where collected wastes materials are place for disposal by the garbage collectors.

On the other hand, the municipal abattoir is well drained and properly maintained. No evident of scattered carcasses trimmings, were present, foul odor inherent to slaughterhouse are reduced to the minimum.

Presence of Trash receptades. Trash receptacles are color-coded. Each set three drums, painted red (for plastics), green (for tin cans and bottles), blue (for leaves, papers etc.). These garbage are collected daily by the two garbage trucks of the LGU.

Presence of Garbage collection and Disposal System. To complement the two garbage trucks that collect the garbage of the town daily, Barili was able to acquire four (4) mechanized grass cutters and shredder machine, which sheds big masses of garbage such as leaves to be decomposed in the compost pit. The decomposed materials can be used as organic fertilizer.

A fireless locomotive is a type of locomotive which uses reciprocating engines powered from a reservoir of compressed air or steam, which is filled at intervals from an external source. They offer advantages over conventional steam locomotives of lower cost per unit, cleanliness, and decreased risk from fire or boiler explosion; these are counterbalanced by the need for a source to refill the locomotive, and by the limited range afforded by the reservoir.

Typical usage was in industrial switching where a conventional locomotive was too noxious or risky, such as in a mine or a food or chemical factory; they also saw use where the source of air or steam was readily available.

A fireless steam locomotive is similar to a conventional steam locomotive, but has a reservoir, known as a steam accumulator, instead of a boiler. This reservoir is charged with superheated water under pressure from a stationary boiler. The engine works like a conventional steam engine using the high pressure steam above the water in the accumulator. As the steam is used and pressure drops, the superheated water boils, replacing the used steam. The locomotive can work like this until the pressure has dropped to a minimum useful level or the water runs out, after which it must be recharged.

European fireless steam locomotives usually have the cylinders at the back, while American ones often have the cylinders at the front, as in a conventional locomotive.

I had to make a detour and investigate job 20 this morning after I stumbled into it. The vintage GEs are waiting till the work is done (not exactly sure what the trucks were doing to the covered hoppers) before shoving into their train.

MNNR T-3 is starting to show a bit of its Conrail heritage through its red paint. Regardless of the locomotives' cleanliness I was thrilled to FINALLY get job 20 in Dinky Town.

A damning indictment on the cleanliness of my cooker hob, but nevertheless provided the speckled object I needed for this week’s Macro Monday theme. A 9-image stack, blended in Photoshop, natural light. HMM!

Hello dears,

I really strive for making a home what it can become, first of all, a home isn't complete without its the owner and I never really had a home. If you have followed me for a while, on social media platforms besides Flickr, I have always sighed for not having a home yet as an Interior Designer, you'd think I would. With the help of a creator, I was able to put some inspirational designs together which was then compiled into a house, by me adding my personal touches I was able to complete the home. It's a small single bedroom, 2 baths, living and kitchen space, perfect for myself since I don't live with anyone else but I. My last actual home was the Victorian desert house which I built myself out of prims, which I'll be selling soon, I think.. Anyway, I hope you enjoy my photos of my home. The home will also be located on a friends community where I'll be living, I suppose what's great about Second Life is you can take your home pretty much anywhere possible.

On my leisurely walk through the old academic quarter of Groningen, I passed by the building erected in 1883 for the Laboratory of Hygienics once part of the pharmaceutical-medical department. It was built in 1883 and the main doorway boasts this rendition of the goddess of cleanliness and purity, Hygeia. The sculpture is by Emilius A.H. Bourgonjon (1841-1927), a Belgian who worked in The Netherlands.

The inset is of a wonderful Widow's Thrill, a Kalanchoè, that I saw in a shop more or less around the corner. Its whiteness symbol of purity. It's well known that astronauts and cosmonauts are subjected to dire hygienic norms on their flights. And, too, that those stays in far-off space can make one homesick. In 1979 Valery Ryumin (1939-) and Vladimir Lyakov (1941-2018) spent a long time in Salyut 6. Space loneliness weighed heavily on them, and to pick up their spirits a shipment of supplies from Earth also had a Kalanchoè plant. They were so thrilled by it that they named it 'Tree of Life'.

Cleanliness is next to godliness. Macro Monday submission this week, plastic. Namely a soap dispenser.

At the end of summer, at the beginning of September, I visited Bergen, the second largest city in Norway.

I arrived at the town at night, but the beauty of the warm sight of the windows

lit up in the houses was impressive and still haunts me.

Each street in the town is full of Scandinavian cleanliness and excellent taste, and is attractive.

Layers of clouds carrying the eight million gods arrived. All we had to do was wait for the gods to appear.

八百万の神々を乗せた幾重もの雲がやって来た。我々は神々の登場を待つだけであった。

---Quote from the website, about the eight million gods---

About the eight million gods(Yaoyorozu #八百万の神) in Japan.

I guess Japanese people’s consideration to others/things, cleanliness, safety are stem from this belief. Because there are different gods here and there and everywhere, so it makes you want to be nice all the time.

When I was five years old, I stepped on a toy piano with my feet. My mother told me; “If you do that, the toy piano god will appear tonight on your bed. Then you will be stepped on and your face will be flat, like the toy piano. Are you okay with that?“ I know she was a bit mean but I learned to take care of things from her words. And I thought about the figure and color of the toy god and what he or she was thinking.

I think the concept of Yaoyorozu (Eight million gods) is good for teaching morals to others, respect and imaginative.

I have a principle that I do not believe in any religion, but I think this way of “Yaoyorozu”thinking has a multicultural coexistence. So, I believe it is a good concept.
