On 16 March 2020 all YPRL branches (including book return chutes) were closed after the Victorian State Government declared a State of Emergency in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. During this time Ivanhoe Library staff worked to clean out the building in preparation for its demolition prior to the opening of the new Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub Project later in 2020. Staff vacated the building on 31 May.

Did some cleanout of the attic in the old family home. Came across some interesting stuff, including this set of leather working tools from a shoemaker supplier in Boston around the turn of the 20th century.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 9 still available.

The Great Photo Cleanout Continued...

So, I'm still working on the whole organized picture files thing... hahaha.

Decided to just randomly pick a few never posted photos and upload them to a blog. Turned into a sort of photo commentary thing:

Car cleanout day! It's a rare occasion! I found four jumpers/ jackets, two cartons of motor oil, a carton of coolant, empty chip packets wedged in funny places, magazines, a giant spider, McDonalds packaging, three pairs of shoes (one which wasn't even mine!) & a pair of 14 hole Doc Martens, three towels & loads and loads of other miscellaneous junk.

Discovered during a cleanout of the shed, saved from the idle paws of TGB and now safe and surrounded by his natural habitat (in a hole spiked take-away carton on top of the microwave).

Wife thinks it's a maggot, I'm plumming for Acherontia Styx aka the Death's Head Hawkmoth from Silence of the Lambs fame. But we will both be happy as long as it's healthy.

If anyone knows what it is (or rather will be) please do comment. It wriggles a lot which was initially quite alarming.

Day one hundred forty-six/365. Now that we've bought a house, and after three moves in one year, we're facing the reality that we simply have too much stuff. Two of our kids have grown up and moved out; we need to downsize. So, we rented a dumpster. A construction dumpster.

It's a cleansing feeling to get rid of the clutter in your life. Our possessions can weigh us down.

With one exception, this is all that is left of the contents of the floor. Everything else was either hoarded by ex-employees, sold, shipped out as retainable assets, or scrapped.

In June 2020 the building was demolished. Fate of this stone unknown.
