At the Zeniarai-benten shinto shrine in Kamakura, you place your money in a basket, then pour water from natural springs over it. This is supposed to bring you good financial success. How could I pass that up?
I have a darkroom in my basement. (Ok, it's more of a darkcorner, but who's keeping score?) My husband started building a music studio shortly after I got my darkroom set up. This caused ungodly amounts of drywall dust to fly all over the basement and land on all my newly installed darkroom gear: bad news. Since the studio construction is complete, I started to clean up all my stuff which included rinsing off all the film I had developed and had sitting around.

The BRB is renowned for its use of the latest technology in its newest steam locos, and this one, by which we were pushed to the top of Rothorn, was one of them. Its valve gear and piston system is different to the usual, so it sounds more like a giant sewing machine than a steam engine, and it runs on either LPG or very fine oil (can't remember which), so it doesn't pollute the atmosphere. As one of our party said, "It doesn't sound like a steam engine, and it doesn't smell like one either". Personally, I think they're fantastic, and one of the main reasons why I wanted to visit the BRB - the only line on our trip that I'd actually heard of before.

Tin City is an old cannery plant that has been converted to hold a series of boutiques, bars and restaurants. The cannery plant came about in the 1920s when the Seaboard Airline Railroad allowed fast transportation from the fishing ports to the customers.

Cleaning a Keurig mini brewer is a little tricky. It is not quite as simple the larger units but, with these step by step instuctions, it is a piece of cake!

Another from the same set taken by a merchant seaman/staff on a container ship passing through Busan in 1971. This is one of what seems like a fairly large crew set to clean and maybe re-grease cables so that containers can be properly loaded.
