I find piers very fascinating. I dont know why there such a tradition?

On 10 September Attaché of the Russian Embassy Ms Elizaveta Vokorina visited Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, to present the Ushakov Medals to four British veterans of the Arctic Convoys: Mr John Ironside, Mr John Munfield, Mr Arthur Storrar and Mr Reginald Young.

The visit was organised with the assistance of local members of the “2nd Guards Rifle Division” history reenactment group.

This view part of the concourse area is not exactly easy on the eye. However, it does reflect how Clacton Station was once much busier than it is nowadays. There has been a railway station here since 1882. The exterior frontage is very impressive, though.

Last night I had a thought, possibly I should go on a trip, get out of Norwich for a day and see somewhere new. When I got to the train station I typed in the first 3 letters that came into my head "CLA" - My housemate's name is Claire hence where the letters came from. So off i went to Clacton.
