Abandoned Cineworld Cinema, Leigh, Greater Manchester, England.

And, no - I didn't put the shopping trolley there.

Through to Glasgow today, to meet some friends and spend some time with them at the Glasgow Film Festival, then dinner, drink, chat, not a bad way to spend a Sunday.

Took a picture of the lights on the wall with the iPhone today while waiting for Tombraider to start.

Enjoyed the film

Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and Russell Crowe at Cineworld in Jersey for Man of Steel

Duration: 37 seconds

View of the flyovers / skyways / overpass's that are the access route to Brighton Marina. The marina is an entirely artificial harbour constructed beneath the chalk cliffs on the south coast of england. The roads emerge directly from tunnels in the cliff face. (The camera is located on top of the cliff.) In the distance is a multi-story car park and the Cineworld Cinema Complex. Illuminated blood orange red below is the ASDA Walmart car park.

In 2001 I saw a very frightened looking Japanese (and therefore fully earthquake trained) girl turning the corner from the entrance to the ASDA. When I got there, I found that the supermarket had been closed, because part of the cliff had collapsed onto it. The store quickly reopened, and the cliff has been reinforced.

The video is a "HDR" mashup. Two sequences were filmed, one with very reduced exposure so that the night time road lighting was captured without swamping the image. The reduced lighting image was then overlaid onto the normally exposed footage, with a travel matt being used to replace only the overlit light areas (including the moving lights of the vehicles).

The ghostly effect was further enhanced by using three layers - from different time periods - with adjusted transparency and blending modes, so that all three layers can be seen at once.

Bus fans will be cheered by the sight of a No. 7 Brighton & Hove Bus company Double Decker bus right at the end of the clip.

I was in town so I thought I'd pop in to Cineworld and book a ticket to see Race 3 tomorrow evening. However, it's much easier to book on-line with my 'phone than it is to use one of the machines or over the counter. So I sat on one of the sofas and booked with my iPhone 😜

This arch of balloons has been set up in the cinema foyer - apparently there is a special offer on 4D films

Comments always appreciated, as long as you keep it clean - I love to hear your feedback! xx

We had such an amazing weekend in Newcastle in September, we decided to go for another one in November!

Thursday night we got there quite late so tea in the Mile Castle Wetherspoons then on to the cinema to see Dune. The Dune books are my favourite ever sci-fi books and I was very impressed with the movie.

As we were coming out, we noticed this mad table football table! I couldn't quite believe what I was seeing!

Room for 20 people, 10 each side each holding 2 rows of 'players'! Wow! I've never seen anything like that before in my life!

"COMING SOON BOLT U"

I'm standing in the rain outside the cinema in Crawley; I'm about to see Mrs Lowry & Son.

It's an interesting film with good performances from the two main characters. However, it's not been popular. I had to come on Monday morning as it was not on show over the weekend nor in the evening at all.

My upside-down umbrella came in handy 😀

In the foyer of the cinema, three members of staff are erecting material publicising a new film.

At the entrance to the Crawley Leisure Park two lines have been cut in the pavement and filled with bitumen – I wonder why?

Apart from red neon being seen inside the cinema,

there is more on the outside.

Note that (already) not all are working.

Almost there as the new Cineworld Cinema takes shape and the finishing touches are being made. Due to open sometime in July 2018.The Cinema opened on the 10th of August 2018.

Man of Steel star Henry Cavill pictured on the red carpet at Cineworld, St Helier, Jersey, UK, ahead of the European premiere of the blockbuster featuring the all-American super hero Superman. See SWNS story SWSUPERMAN. The Man of Steel star was born in Jersey said: "We all worked so hard on this movie, we put so much of our hearts and souls into telling it, I can't wait to show it and bring it home and say 'here guys, look what I did'." Man of Steel sees Superman attempt to save the world while battling General Zod, a rebellious military leader from his home planet of Krypton - played by Boardwalk Empire's Michael Shannon. The film features Russell Crowe as Cavill's biological father from Krypton Jor-El, Kevin Costner as his human adoptive father, Jonathan Kent and Amy Adams as love interest Lois Lane.

Plainly the staff of Cineworld in Crawley are hoping that Father Christmas will remember them.

Green's Playhouse was an entertainment complex comprising a cinema, ballroom, tea rooms, and other facilities. The Playhouse was at 126 Renfield Street, Glasgow, Scotland, commissioned by George Green Ltd, designed by architect John Fairweather, and built by the Cinema Building Company. Opened in 1927, the Playhouse operated until the 1970s, a decline in audience numbers in the 1960s necessitated diversification as a music venue until closure in 1973. The building continued in use as The Apollo, after being acquired by Unicorn Leisure on a lease-holding arrangement, until final closure in 1985, with subsequent demolition in 1987. The site is now occupied by a multi-plex cinema (Cineworld)

Yet another crappy shot tonight. I went out to the cinema tonight to see 'Lucy', but not the cat.

This is the lobby of Cineworld, and it was probably the most entertaining part of the visit.

Not the greatest film I've seen this year.

NEC Birmingham - Photography Show 2019. Resorts World opened in 2015 and was designed by Benoy Architects. It contains an 11 screen Cineworld cinema including an Imax screen.

A day out east of the city centre at the National Exhibition Centre for the Photography Show 2019. Very pleasant day organised by the Grantham Camera Club with a coach taking the driving strain!

Carlton / Cineworld, Haymarket London. The balcony cinema is a joy at Cineworld Haymarket. 491 seats and original plasterwork as designed by Verity & Beverley in 1927. Some screen curtains would be good!

July 2013

Well, tonight was the final hurrah for my local cinema on Edge Lane, and in true 'last night' spirit, it was the cinema itself that had the last laugh!

Sitting down to the first of my two films, the projector broke! Blessedly, and in true 'IT Crowd' style, a couple of reboots sorted it out.

From the big space of screen 2 it was into the much more familiar territory of Screen 7 for the cinema's last film, where my old and trusted friend, seat D8, had saved his last ride for me. Sleep well D8...I will miss you.

Firstly, I understand this is basically a reshoot of #116 so it's kind of cheating, but it was the best I could get today.

I went to the flicks this afternoon as Laura isn't around, and did in a couple of films.

On coming home I decided that I really needed to clear my wallet of cinema tickets and came up with this little haul.

Featured items are (I think):

2012 (enjoyable enough - it's always nice to see Amanda Peet on the big screen)

Law Abiding Citizen (not bad, but Jamie Foxx left me a bit cold)

9 (terrible)

District 9 (odd but good)

Fame (pleasant but very forgettable)

This Is It (worth seeing)

And now my wallet is a little lighter. Maybe I'll take something in daylight tomorrow. :)

Tickets for almost every film I've seen at the cinema from 2006 to January 2012. There's a couple missing as I can't find the tickets, but other than that, they're all here. Note that for Ice Age 2 I was still paying child prices, think I look too old for that now!

The full list, in order:

When I go to the cinema I prefer to sit next to the wall in the back row. I made a mistake and sat on the left-hand end. It's better to sit on the other side of the cinema in screen 4 as there one gets two cup holders … one for a drink and one for my chocolate nuts & raisins 😀

I saw Apollo 11, a worthy film but rather too many shots of men in white shirts and dark ties sitting in rows in front of computer screens.
