West front details over the main door.

Johanneksenkirkko stands tall beneath the crisp Helsinki sky, framed by bare trees in early spring. A Neo-Gothic landmark, this church is a defining feature of Helsinki’s silhouette and soul.

 

The south aisle has stencilling on a red ground. Behind the screen is the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.

Rievaulx Abbey, a former Cistercian foundation, as viewed from Rievaulx Terrace on the hill above.

Ancient Churches for Beginners, Vintage booklet from about 1967, that's when I bought it in the UK. Drawing of Anglo-Saxon church at Worth, Sussex.

The north aisle has stencilling on a blue ground, visible on the left. In the centre is the Lady Chapel altar and pulpit (both carved by Thomas Roddis).
