Last weekend I visited this amazing place in my home county VƤrmland, Sweden. In the middle of the forest, very close to the norwegian border, rest (and rust) about 1000 cars from the 30's to the 60's, besides and on top of each other. The place was founded by two brothers (Ivansson) in the 1950s to break down vehicles which had been abandoned by American soldiers leaving Europe after the Second World War. They then sold on spare parts for repairs. They continued to trade until the 1980s before they abandoned the site in the 1990s leaving the forest undergrowth to claim the cars.
The place is now visited by junk and car lovers (and photographers) from all over Europe.
an old friend of mine asked back in winter to help him with some shots of his chopper. it was a life dream of his to get into some biker mags. he even arranged the obligatory bikini model.
we met after work at a biker bar south of raleigh. i shot some pool, had a beer or two, hung out with the owner and his minature doberman Spike while i waited.
once my friend showed up, we rolled down to a nearby lake for some shots - the bikini model was stuck at work.
we got a couple test shots in that afternoon, and we'll do the real set next tuesday.

She can see herself In the shiny grill and the
Wire wheels of a red Chevelle with four on the floor and the top down
Chrome,
zippin' by on an ELECTRAGLIDE
With dual tail pipes doin' 105 in the broad daylight
On a two-lane headin' outta town
Forget Pink and purple paisleys
little mellow-yellow daisies
Ain't no pot of gold in her rainbow
Her favorite color is

Chrome Hill in the Peak District. I could never get the sky to look right, and I'm still not 100% happy. But that's what you get when using shitty grad filters I guess.

Another from a few weeks back from Hitter Hill looking over towards Parkhouse & Chrome Hill.
I waited around on Hitter Hill as the wisps of mist crept up the Dove Valley before being completely lost in the thick of the mist and moving to higher ground.
As I was waiting I took several images this being one of the images I like.
I can even see Harsh on top of Chrome Hill if I zoom in on my computer!

Imagine my excitement discovering three boxes of Ektachrome and Kodachrome slides in my Father-in-Law's garage last month. The heat of the Mojave Desert was not kind to the Ektachromes (including this image): they suffered moderate to major color shift. The Kodachromes fared considerably better. That would appear to be a 1966 Lincoln Continental. The Drewry Photocolor process date is Dec 67. Not sure where this was taken.
Chevrolet's legacy was established on its succession of popular models that continue to form the backbone of today's classic-car culture. Among them were the handsomely designed 1955 through 1957 'Shoebox' models, and while some prefer the subtle styling of the 1955 models, others prefer the more flamboyantly finned and trimmed 1957 models. Wedged between the two were the 1956 Chevys, a balance and blend of these two extremes.
While some feared that Harley Earl's healthy dose of chrome was overdone, the buying public approved, and Chevrolet's market share improved from 16 to 28 percent. With 1,574,740 vehicles produced in 1956 and 1,621,004 sales, Chevrolet was the number one automaker in America.
