Too often it seems people seek to be entertained or what might be called "edutainment" through church they attend or visit...which isn't always good.

It's fine to enjoy a good message, good music, and to be somewhat entertained in the process, however, the goal isn't to be entertained, rather, it's to worship The Lord, be instructed in The Word, fellowship with others believers, serving one another and other things buy most of all...it's to encounter and meet The Lord Your God! He is your audience and the reason you connect there at all!
_
Entertainment is temporary but The One whom you seek and devote yourself to is eternal.
_
So, whether it's through worshipping him day-to-day through your life or attending a church that preaches God's word and keeps Jesus at the center of all things, make sure that you're seeking God alone not just some temporary experience.
_
You and I will worship Him for all eternity so...lets practice accordingly now by seeking Him with everything that is within us!

There is a lot of "noise" that we experience in this life including a lot of information that is rapidly hurled at us each day, including lies from the evil one so we need to sort the truth from the lies.

Even in The Body of Christ, those who may be well intended believer's will proclaim something that ends up not coming to true because it wasn't Biblically true. It clearly wasn't from The Lord!
_
Are you confused or unclear about something? Consult God's Word! Did you attend a Christian Conference and something doesn't quite sit right with you regarding something someone taught? Consult God's Word! Did you attend your regular home church or have you visited a church and something doesn't quite sit right with you regarding something that was taught? Consult God's Word! Heard something preached on one of the "Christian" networks that doesn't quite sound right? Consult God's Word!

If you've been on this journey with me for a while, you've heard me say more than once, that as follower's of Christ, God's Word is the lens by which we see and know the truth.
_
May we be like The Berean's and take everything back to the lens of God's Word as it's through God's Word that The Holy Spirit will shed light on the truth which will sort out that which is not.
_
As we abide in and live out His Word, we'll have clearer vision because He will help transform and renew our minds so we can view everything from His lens.
_
Take everything back to God's Word and as you do so, the Holly Spirit will give you you wisdom, knowledge and discernment that will, again, help separate the truth from the lies.
_
Don't be a blind sheep! Take everything back to God's Word!

Sometimes as we walk with Christ we can overcomplicate things...and prayer shouldn't be one of those things. 😂

Prayer is a gift from God and just like having a conversation with a friend, you can humbly and reverently approach the King of Kings.

You can praise His mighty name and bring thanksgiving. You can share your heart including your hopes and fears. You can seek wisdom and direction. You can intercede for others and confess your sin when you stumble. You can simply speak to Him anytime about anything.
_
Just like breathing, may you speak a prayer to the most high King remembering that He wants to hear from you often. So, approach Him often and with confidence.

I like this saying and it makes me chuckle at myself (as well as situations with others I've observed who come to mind) where maybe I / we've had the "high beams" on a little too much at times over the years. This also brings to mind driving down a road or highway that is poorly lit and then have someone in the oncoming traffic blaring their bright lights and after you feel momentarily blinded and they realize they need to turn off their bright lights...you can drive normally again!
I'm reminded that we are called to let our lights shine before all men (I.E. Matthew 5:16) but at the same time we're not called to be annoying in the process. :-) We are called to shine out His light pointing to the hope, love and salvation that is only found in Him. So shine out your light...His light, but don't blind people with it like shining a high lumen LED flashlight directly in their eyes....not advisable...but they should see a constant and steady light in and through you...that draws them again to the Hope found in Christ alone.

Here's something to THINK about! :)
Our words are powerful so we ought to use them and choose them wisely... THINK before we speak.
Speak words of life instead of death.
Speak words of hope instead of despair.
Speak words of peace instead of chaos or turmoil.
Speak words of truth instead of lies.
Speak words that build up instead of tear down.
Your reputation and character and other's reputations and character can be maligned if we're not careful. You can tear someone down if you don't use your words wisely.
It's better to remain silent than to use unwise words.
Again, THINK before you speak.

We read passages like Matthew 11:28 or 1 Peter 5:7 where we're instructed about laying our burdens, anxieties and more, down and then we seem to forget about it or say, "that's nice" and then go about "our' business.

Then we run into an issue, trial or something that weighs us down and sometimes instead of turning directly to The Lord Who is our strength, we try to carry the burdens on our own...how's that working out for you and I? Not very good...speaking on behalf of "a friend" of course. :-)
_
It's like we take scripture sometimes as if it's a passing phrase like a well meaning greeting card or something but it's much more than this as it's the very word of God!
_
We are not to nor were we ever supposed to carry our burdens on our own. We cannot handle the vast weight nor should we because that's not our job and because Jesus is our strength and can carry them all...it's no wonder He instructs us to do so!?
_
So, the question is...will you and I continue to be miserable trying to carry too heavy a load or will you and I listen to The Savior's word of grace, truth and love and actually lay ALL of our burdens down?
_
I pray that we lay ALL of them Down not just some of them Down, in Jesus name, amen.

God's Word is full of examples where times of adversity lead to growth, strength, perseverance and hope. While it's not easy to have "rocks" thrown at you by others or even the enemy himself, it's all a part of what God allows to take place in the process of Him shaping and molding us day-by-day. He can make something beautiful from ashes and He can build something in and through you through the collection of rocks that may be hurled at you over time. Trust Him in the process and don't lose hope clinging to faith built not on what you see but the truth of God's Word. He will bring you through and when you get to the other side, you'll be so much stronger and can praise Him all the more.

It's not uncommon to look back and wish you could change something in the past or have a proverbial "do over".

Unfortunately, you can't change the past but you can move forward change the days the ahead!

You can have a "do over" in Christ!

We can either live in constant regret or we can trust that God's got us in the palm of His hand and each day ahead is a new day...a "day one" if you will as He restarts the clock with a fresh new start.
_
If you're in Christ, you need to be encouraged that what you think looks like the end, is just the beginning as The Lord Your God is on your side and turns trades beauty for ashes, joy for pain, laughter for mourning, peace for despair, life for death, hope for hopelessness, faith for fear! There are many many things that He will provide something better or the antidote for a multitude of negative or destructive things.
_
You cannot go back and change the beginning but with God's help, you can accept it for what is WAS, and then you can truly change the ending as He's not finished with you yet as He's not done writing your story.
_
So, move forward knowing today is a new beginning and He'll help you change the ending. You just have to trust, seek and follow Him.

As we reflect on His legacy, what often is diminished in today's remembrances is that he was a man that was motivated by a fervent and active faith in God.

Seasons that are easygoing, smooth, and comfortable are a blessing but if you've walked with Christ in truth faith for any period of time, you know that growth and faith typically doesn't come by going the easy route. The easy seasons aren't as frequent as we like but our growth is more important than our comfort.
_
Comfort in itself is not bad but it should never be our focus or our main goal. In fact, Jesus never lived a comfortable life. He even said He didn't have a place to rest His head (See Matthew 8:20 and Luke 9:58), but, He didn't come here seeking comfort...He came to serve and sacrifice Himself in order to provide us with the only way of salvation. His life was focused on The Mission He came to fulfill and our lives should be focused on what He's called us to do as well!
_
I'm not suggesting that your life is supposed to be in constant turmoil, however, If you're in Christ and your life is constantly comfortable and you never face adversity, it might be time for you to evaluate your life and walk with Christ. Is your faith on autopilot as you check in and out of church, go about your business and never invite Jesus into anything beyond Sunday's?
_
You have to ask yourself: "Has His truth gotten a hold of me?" Or, "Do the trappings of this world have a hold of me?"
_
Let me challenge you to ask The Holy Spirit to spotlight areas you need to adjust to more effectively live for The Lord! Let me also challenge you to get into The Word, and ask The Holy Spirit to help you truly grow in your faith as you walk with Christ! There are many people who are compelled to give this time of year and there's a myriad of reasons why people give...even selfish ones.

No matter the motivation, it's good to give as even with the wrong motivations God can still use your giving for His glory and the good of others.

It's also true, whether we realize it or not, giving changes us.
_
For instance when you give it takes your focus off ourselves or our circumstances and shifts our focus toward someone else. Giving can change even the coldest of hearts and I think it's by design that giving does that and as 1 Corinthians 13 says, "Love Conquers All" and indeed God's love and what we do in love truly conquers all...even giving someone a cold cup of water or serving them in some other tangible way!

As those who know all that God gave in love to us, may we in turn operate in love and lead the charge living a lifestyle of giving.
_
May God's great love be our catalyst during this season of giving and may we remember the true Gift that began our Christmas celebration...the love of God Who sent Jesus as the first gift of Christmas and why we give at all!

Do you personally know His love? If so, give from the outflow of His great love for you... Give of your time, talents and resources!

Jesus reminds us that In this world there will be trouble but that He has overcome the World. (John 16:33)
We also know that the evil one roams about like a lion seeking to devour anyone possible. (1 Peter 5:8)

What we often see is a result of the broken and sinful world we live in.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer knew this well as he was a pastor during Hitler's uprising / Hitler's Germany. He didn't remain quiet about the things taking place but spoke the truth from God's Word...which of course was in direct opposition to the evil that was taking place during this time.
_
When we see evil and wrong things taking place we have a responsibility to act. We cannot stick our heads in the sand and pretend we see nothing!
_
We need to seek wisdom from God to know when we should speak out against evil and act to protect the defenseless...or if we should remain silent or not act in a given situation.
_
Either way God is our strength, shield and wisdom. He will direct us according.
_
Too many people see and do nothing...don't be one of those people! Seek Him immediately for what you should do!
