Are you in a time of darkness? Are you feeling depressed or down?
Or, maybe you haven't met Jesus yet through accepting His love and forgiveness...the love and forgiveness that He stands ready and waiting with open arms to forgive and receive you with!
He came to shine light unto the darkness of our sin and the separation from our Heavenly Father the creator of the heaven and earth so you might have life!
Jesus is the light of the world! He is your light so...follow after Him and walk in the light all the days of your life!

There's a Brooke Fraser song titled "Albertine" and within that song there's a sobering lyric that has stuck with me for years that states "now that I have seen, I am responsible, faith without deeds is dead".

This is so true and as follower's of Christ as well as from a practical standpoint as a we seek to be a good neighbor, co-worker, friend, etc, we have a responsibility to help others (within reason of course) once we know of or see a circumstance. We can always at least pray for others but if you saw someone running to cross the street and they didn't see a car heading their way...I certainly hope you and I would try to warn them or pull them out of harms way!
_
The same is applicable to spiritual danger, relationship danger, the danger of addiction financial danger and more.
_
This may be counter culture but the culture should never stop us from doing the right thing by lovingly reaching out with the hand of help toward our fellow man.
_
They may not accept the advice we give or heed the warning but at least you did your part to reach out and warn them of the impending danger you see them heading toward. It's also not getting into everyone's business or about being right, rather, it's an overall attitude of caring for others and Christ cares for us as He meets the spiritual, emotional and physical needs we have!
_
This especially applies to those with whom we have a relationship of some sort with and over time earn their respect and the right to speak into their lives and they in turn hopefully do the same toward us!
_

Today at my home Church, Athey Creek, Pastor Brett began the book of Job.

As we read through the first part of Job, it's not only incredible to recall again all that Job lost, but equally how he responded in worship after losing everything!
_
Here's what he said and how he chose to respond: Job 1:20-22 ESV "Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. And he said, โNaked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong."

I wonder what our response is or would be, when we face great adversity? Is it chaos or worship?
_
In today's message, we were reminded that no matter what we face, God's grace is greater and anything we face, no matter our circumstances, it's all better than we deserve. Through His love and grace, God gives us more than we deserve and we need to keep that in mind. I'm thankful for the reminder!
_
May we worship Him no matter what we face in this life!

Jesus spoke these words when He taught the disciples how to pray and He spoke similar words as He suffered on the cruel cross.

Jesus wanted to do nothing but His Father's Will.

We often want what we want without consulting God and in a world full of "self" we need to ask ourselves, "do I want my will be done or God's will be done?"
_
I pray that you and I will be like Jesus and proclaim at any given moment or situation, "Thy Will Be Done."
_
His Will is far greater than our will can ever be. He knows what's best for you and I and while we don't always understand His will, let's trust Him and proclaim, Thy will be done, Lord! Thy will be done!

When doubt-filled questions and accusations a hurled at you, speaking truth to yourself from God's Word is vital. It's vital no matter the season. The truth is that the enemy and others seek to tear you down, but, they forget Whose you are and Who you are in Christ! You tend to forget sometimes as well!

We all are faced with times of doubt and times where the enemy and others seem to be on the attack. During this times we need to remember that through Christ we are His and through Him we are Secure, Accepted, and Significant. WE ARE CHILDREN OF THE MOST HIGH GOD!
_
I recall a season when one of my kids were not seeing themselves for how God sees them and they were really down on themselves while listening to the wrong voices. In the moment, I had them stand in front of the mirror and speak truth to themselves instead of believing the lies they've been told. I wanted them to see their own reflection and remember Who they reflect as we're made in His Image.
_
They needed to remember Whose they are and we all need to remember this!
_
We are nobodies who know SOMEBODY! Jesus Christ!
_
You have to decide which voice you are you going to listen to. God's Voice - The One Who is for you? Or the world's voice - those who are often against you?
_
Friend, remember Whose you are and cast out any doubt or negative voices and speak His truth over yourself instead of the doubts and lies in Jesus Name!

Amen! We can spend our entire lives studying and abiding in God's Word, and we should, but our knowledge at the end of our time on earth will only be a drop in a bucket for all we can know about the mighty expanse of God's Word. Reading and studying His Word is a privilege... Don't ever quit as He's provided everything we need to navigate this gift of life He's given us and with that and most importantly, the ability to get to know His heart more...know Him more through abiding in His Word!

Life can be a dark at times. You may even feel stuck as you go through the valley because of a specific trial, a struggle, or many other things you may face.

If you're in Christ, you're NOT alone in the valley my friend.

Whatever you're going through, you really need to simply fix your eyes on Jesus and not your circumstances because your circumstances aren't the light of the world, but Jesus is THE Light of the World!
_
He will lead you out of the darkness of any valley you go through!

Church: Don't trade God's way that is grounded in His Word for the next fad, seminar or movement. Many of these things are geared to supposedly "grow your church" but in the end...it doesn't truly provide growth and maturity no matter the the temporary numbers of attendees it may bring in.
To be the true church and see true growth, to name a few of the many things we need to do...we need to fulfill the great commission, teach and grow in the Word and wisdom and knowledge of God, keep Jesus in the center of all we do, rely on the power of the Holy Spirit in all we do and more. True growth happens when God is in center of what we do as He directs us and is the author and perfector of our faith... Not the other way around.
In sum, don't drink the Kool-Aid and don't give Kool-Aid to others instead...give them the true meat of the Word and point them to the living water, Jesus Who is the Only One Who can quench their thirst and provide true growth with the help of The Holy Spirit.

Doing good through our words and actions is not optional.

None of us either in our words or actions are perfect at doing good we constantly need the work of The Holy Spirit in our lives Who enables us to do good as Goodness is one of the Fruit of The Spirit.

Sometimes it's those within the church that can be horrible toward one another and treat those in and outside of the church very poorly as if that's acceptable.
_
People in the church will often leave due to being hurt, burned, and used up by those who should be building others up not tearing others down.
_
We are God's ambassadors and we need to get this right. We need to lead the way and be the example for those in and outside of the church.
_
Please view/listen to these 2 brief videos and then allow The Holy Spirit to work in your life convicting, equipping, and directing you to do good through your words and action for His Kingdom, Glory and everyone's good.

I enjoy The Thanksgiving Holiday as it's typically a great time to get together with family and friends, reflect on what weโre thankful for, and of course enjoy really good food.

The one thing in particular that I don't like is that for some, Thanksgiving seems to be the only time they pause to reflect on what they are thankful for.
_
Psalm 9:1 (ESV) 9 I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.
_
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (ESV) 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
_
Note, neither of these passages say, wait until a special holiday arrives to be thankful. Weโre to continually give thanks to God as well as express thankfulness for and to others.
_
As followers of Christ, no matter where we live, may we cultivate an attitude of gratitude and thanksgiving from a whole heart all year through as we have much to be thankful for!
_

Let me ask you, do you really want to grow in your faith and walk with God?

If you truly want to live a full life in Christ, as He wants you to do...then you will walk in and with Him daily as He outlines for us in His Word!

You will seek to become deeply rooted and built up in Him including being connected to Him and The Body of Christ. This takes work and it requires a lifetime of tenacious devotion to The Lord, His Word, His people and more!
_
All of this will lead to being built up and established in the faith as The Holy Spirit guides and directs you. Also, in the process you will or should abound in thanksgiving (with an attitude of gratitude) for everything He continues to do in and through you for His kingdom and glory, your growth and your good...which in turn benefits and is or should be a good thing for everyone else as well!
_
There's only so much you can fit in a 60 second encouragement and I hope that you're encouraged by this as well as the additional insight here. :-)

Strive not just to live but to be ALIVE in Christ all the days of your life!

Sometimes we all go through seasons where it feels like life is spinning out of control and it's then when need to remember the truth of the matter that God is in control. He holds all things together with His power, authority and sovereignty.

God is a sovereign, omniscience, omnipresent, loving and righteous God. He is always at work for, in, and through us!
_
He knows what you're facing and will see you through and Jesus reminds us in Matthew 28:18 that โAll authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me."
_
All authority is His friend. When things feel out of control or like they are falling apart, remember that they are not because He is and will always be seated on the throne and all authority is His!
_
I pray that you and I don't lose, faith, hope, or heart when we face things as we instead remember the truth of Who He really is! I pray this reminder makes us less stressed, anxious or anything else and instead remain strong in faith in God's Sovereignty over us in Jesus name I pray, Amen
