Do you ever have situations with other people that stress you out or monopolize your thoughts?
_
In conflict situations or in discipleship situations, a lot of stress, anxiety, and conflict can arise when we attempt to take on more than we’re responsible for.
_
Let me share a simple principle with you that I learned years ago and many teach about that may help you remove the unnecessary extra burden on yourself in many situations.
_
There are three parts to every situation that as follower of Christ you and I who are to be biblical peacemakers need to keep in mind:
1. Your Part.
2. Their Part.
3. God’s Part.
_
Hear me when I say that: You are only 100% responsible for your part!
_
If it’s a conflict situation, you cannot typically resolve it 100% yourself. But, you can 100% own your part.
_
If it’s a discipleship situation where you’re leading someone else, you can only 100% own your part. You can’t make someone grow. You can only own your part.
_
We have to have faith to include God in every situation knowing He will definitely own His part...And Trust yourself to own your 100%. Then leave other people’s part of the equation to them because again…you can only 100% own your part.

The thought I mention in this brief video message is something The Lord keeps bringing to mind off and on as I see other's lives impacted by this and as I continually evaluate my own life.

God's will is God's will but sometimes we get in the way of His will by our own actions. In other words, we stunt forward momentum or block the momentum by the things we decide to do (some of which may be contrary to God's Word) as well as the people we've chosen to surround ourselves with such as those who are a negative influence or constantly seek to tear us down. They aren't ultimately for us, they are against us and work, willfully or sometimes unknowingly to hinder our growth and keep us from living to our full potential for Christ our King!
_
We need God's wisdom, direction, and help to know who these people and things are that are really hindering His will for our lives and I encourage and challenge you to seek God today and ask Him to reveal the truth. Our lives are supposed to be for Him and what He's created us for all for His kingdom and glory and we can't fully be living for Him if the the wrong things and people are holding us back.

Let's pray for one anther that we'll continually be following and doing His Will.

Comparison living is a huge thief of joy. It's also seeks to steal our contentment with what God has already blessed us with!
It's very detrimental to you and I and yet it's promoted in our society as something to be sought after. We compare ourselves with one fad or fashion to another. One gadget to the next. One person's life and or ability to another's. Another's relationships with our own.
We compare ourselves to others often and yet God has called us only to be who we are and who we are in Christ! To compare ourselves to His standards and not this world's standards because God is our standard setter and bearer!
As for me, I can only be me... A follower of Christ who is growing in grace and hopefully growing daily in the wisdom and knowledge of Him. I can only do my part to do better at watering my relationships.
I also can't be any of the well known / big named ministers... I can only be who I am in Christ. I need only to water the grass, the ground He's planted me in and be faithful to do what He's called me to!
Same applies to you. You can only be who you are in Christ and seek after Him to direct your path. You can only do your part to do better to water the relationships you are a part of. You also need to stop comparing yourself to anyone and just be you as God is shaping you into His masterpiece day by day.
The truth is... Grass only grows green if it is watered and the soil cultivated. So water and cultivate my friend and as you do, I believe you will start to see the grass on your side grow healthier and greener!

I really appreciate this quote because whether it's keeping up with the "Joneses" or the "Spiritual Joneses"...we need to realize that we're all on our own journey.
_
While we can appreciate and admire the journey of others, we need to appreciate our own journey including who God has made us and how He is transforming us to be as He helps us continue to make progress and grow.
_
As I've shared before, comparison living is one of the chief thief's of joy and while we may admire, appreciate or envy other people's progress or success at times, their progress and success is their's. The comparison game is largely a waste of time!
_
You need to not fall into the comparison trap and instead refocus on putting the work into your own journey. Focus on growing and progressing forward because there is only one you and who you are matters!
_
Stop holding yourself back because of what someone else does! You use your special set of unique gifts and talents
_
You will grow and progress on your own pace friend so keep walking and moving forward!
_
One other thing to note: is that while we're all on our own journeys, God can and will use each of us to help support, strengthen, and encourage us in our own journey! How cool is that!? With this, let's also consider how we may help one another along the path of life!

I am proud of you!
You are good at ______!
If you're a parent, please understand Affirmation is so important!
You may not have grown up with affirmation or worse, the opposite of affirmation but, you can change the tide in the life of your child /children! It's Never too late to get started!

pjhayton: How'd you get the triangle cropped out of the original @joecavazos ? The only way I could think of to do it would be to overlay a triangle crop on the original in pictwo then flip it and overlay the result on the original. I'm assuming you used an easier way though...
joecavazos: @pjhayton yes much easier. I used a app called diptic. It basically gives you different frames to make collages. Those on is a square with a triangle in it.

Sometimes you may feel like God hasn't heard your prayers when you don't receive an answer right away.
Let me encourage you that even in the silence God is at work and you have to realize that He knows what is best for you. You also need to remember that sometimes He says yes right away while others times He says...wait...not yet...maybe...or no my child.
You also need to realize what He may be trying to accomplish during this season and think about the growth He is helping facilitate in your life and the life of others during the time you are praying for what you are seeking Him about.
Don't get discouraged and remember once again that even in the silence, even in the waiting...God is working as He never sleeps or slumbers. Trust in His timing, purpose, will and plan!

When the Lord says, "Fear Not", He means it as He wants you and I to trust Him and have complete faith in Him. He also knows how destructive and paralyzing worry and fear is. For the past several years I've been blessed by God to serve as the chapel pastor for an amazing group of teens, (as one of the many various ministries God has led me to serve Him through) where I have the honor of communicating God's Word.

This week we looked at Humility from Matthew 5:5 and as we survey the landscape of our culture we see many people whose lives are not examples of those who operate their lives with humility.

You and I need to be different than the world as we should seek to be humble and gentle in a world that isn’t.
_
No matter how others behave...You be Humble. Seek to glorify The One Who gave you life.
_
If you want to experience a blessed life in Him, then you'll take Him at His Word and strive with all that is within you to live according to His Word.
_
Humility is about character and it’s an attitude you need to have to grow in this blessed life and while we may not be perfect at it, humility is an attitude and a character quality that we as follower's of Christ should live and model. Let's pray for one another that The Holy Spirit will help us live out and excel in all The Beatitudes including Humility.
_
May you accept the challenge Jesus has given you from Matthew 5:5 and may you seek to make Him known through the fruit of your life as you live out this and all of The Beatitudes.

If you’re in Christ, You’ve experienced God’s grace first hand.

Simply put, Grace is undeserved favor from God.

In Ephesians 1:7-10 He says He has lavished His grace upon us.

I love that phrase and it reminds us that God spared no expense on our behalf so that we may have life in Him!

We don’t deserve it but God lavished His grace upon us anyway through the sacrifice of His son, Jesus.
_
God’s grace is greater than anything you face today.
_
His grace is sufficient even through our weaknesses.
_
I hope you are encouraged today, because through Christ, God has extended and lavished his grace upon you. Which is a truth we should never take for granted.

Recently I was messaging a friend for prayer about some stresses I was dealing with and as I replied to the encouragement he sent me, this truth came to mind and I shared it with him:

Sometimes this ship seems to be going down...but I'm glad I know The One Who walks on water!
_
I thank God that He reminded me of the reality that if we're in Christ, no matter how stormy the waters are, no matter if the proverbial ship seems to be going down, we know Jesus personally.
_
We can trust Him to see us through as He is The calmer of the storms in our lives and we, like Peter, need to take His hand that is outstretched to us each moment so He can bring us back to safety.
_
He is our help in the good times and the times of trouble. So, remember The One Who walks on water can and will calm the stormy waters of your life and will bring you through as you seek Him and cry out to Him in faith with everything that is within you!

I was blessed to be able to create a mural on the wall of the gym. The kids love basketball and cartoons...so SpaceJam was an obvious and fun choice (Daffy Duck is my alter-ego).
The love and sacrifice of Jesus may seem irrational and senseless to some but it doesn't really matter what anyone thinks because He came to seek and save the lost.

His love and sacrifice for you is perfect, overwhelming, and complete...and He came to find you!

If you've received His search and rescue mission (His free gift of salvation) then rejoice in your loving Good Shepherd Who has brought you into His flock! Keep listening to and for the Good Shepherd's voice!

If you haven't received His search and rescue mission (His free gift of salvation) then listen and respond to The Good Shepherd's voice as He is calling for you drawing you to Himself. He gave His life for you! All you have to do is receive His gift of salvation!

The trials of life are very painful many times and sometimes to the point we don't know how we can endure anymore emotional, mental physical and other pain or turmoil. It's exhausting to say the least.

Then we make it through it and look back in awe because we realize it was God and see it was Him once again who brought us through this latest storm.

Let me encourage you that when you face the next battle, to remember that God will see you through what you're going through friend.

Dive into His Word, pray hard crying out to Him all the more, seek and cling to the help of The Holy Spirit... Surround yourself with the Body of Christ for support and encouragement too because by doing so... maybe, just maybe, it will help the "kidney stone" pass a little quicker and easier as you rely on the Lord and the tools and people He's given you and I which are readily available and will help bear the burden as you choose not to face it alone! :-)

I was blessed to give message recently about Having and Keeping a Kingdom Perspective to a group of awesome young people via their teen chapel service.

As I prepared to communicate, It became very clear that of all the topics in the Word of God that Jesus taught about, He had more to say about the topic of The Kingdom than pretty much any other topic. If it was as important to Him to teach so often about it then it ought to be important to us as well!

Jesus had a Kingdom Perspective in everything He did and so should we!

Again, everything you and I do needs to be done and viewed through the lens of scripture and with His Kingdom and Glory in mind.

If you've been on this journey with me for a while, you've heard me often say that God's Word is the lens by which we see and know the truth. As we abide in and live out His Word, we'll have clearer vision because He will help transform and renew our minds so we can view everything from His lens including seeing, having, and keeping a Kingdom Perspective.

The kingdom of this world is and will be shaken as it is temporal, but, God’s kingdom is eternal and will NEVER be shaken!

Our lives, everything that is within us if for His Kingdom and glory! Do you want clear vision? Then have a kingdom perspective!

We all joke about faking it till you make it as none of us have it all together so we get the humor of course, however, You're called to be who you are in Christ and you are called to actively live out your faith. Not in a fake way but honest and wholehearted way!
This requires abiding daily in Christ and there's no need to fake anything with Him! He will give you the wisdom and knowledge to do what He's called you to do!
So, don't fake it till you make it...Faith it till you make it!
God is on your side!

With the temps in the pacific northwest and many places north of the equator plummeting this winter, I'm reminded of how blessed I am to have a warm home to go home to and warm clothes and additional layers to put on if needed even when my home is cold sometimes as the furnace tries to keep up with the temps! :-)
Many don't have this luxury either due to lack of heat and clothing or they are current homeless. I know that continues to be the case in my community anyway.
_
With this in mind, it's a good time to check in on your neighbors to make sure they are ok and also check your closets for extra warm blankets, coats, gloves, scarfs, socks and more that you don't need...that you can then donate to the many shelters, warming centers, and churches that are working to help those in need! Again, check in on your neighbors too and if you know someone who needs wood for their stove or heating assistance, help them if you're able to do so.
_
Whether it's the dead of winter or the middle of a hot summertime, there's almost always something you and I can do to reach out to make sure people are taken care of or are taking care of themselves. We are blessed even in times of meager means but even through meager means there may be something we can do to help others. #foodforthought

I want to encourage you that no matter what you see in front of you today, if you're in Christ, you need to keep pressing forward and allow Him to continue to use, refine and guide you according to His Word, Will, and Way.

People will not believe in you, they will disappoint you, they will seek to discourage you, they will even put you down sometimes, but, you continue serve and seek Him will all that is within you regardless of any discouragement, disappointment or anything else that might seek to divert you from the path He has you serving Him on!
_
His plan is still His plan whether or not people can see your heart has He sees it or the plan He has for your life.
_
Keep pressing forward toward the calling He has for you because it's ultimate Him you serve!

It's hard to respond with grace or to respond in prayer when someone has hurt us. This may be the understatement of the year! 😀 LOL!

It's also hard to not hold onto the hurtful words spoken because as I've said before, the old saying, "Stick and stones may break my bones but words may never hurt me", while we can understand the sentiment behind it, it's really not the reality of life!
Why? Because while bones heal relatively quickly, it's the words spoken that tend to dwell in our hearts and minds for a long time!
_
If we're honest, we all say and do dumb things when we're angry or hurt. We need The Lord's help to heal our hearts, minds, and to help us become more grace filled in our responses.
_
We also need His help through His Holy Spirit to season our responses to other people when we've been wronged by them.
_
Furthermore, we need to make sure we don't let the circumstances of life change who God is shaping us into. We are The Lord's, we're a product of His grace, and not merely a product of the circumstances, including the mistreatment, of life.
_
Ultimately, how we respond is up to us and in the process we need God's help in responding as well as healing us from the flaming arrows that are hurled at us and leave scars along the way...scars that God can and will heal us from. I pray that we grow through these tough experiences and that they help us become better, more mature instead of bitter, ineffective, and crippled by these things.
_

Some seek to gain followers or popularity.

Some seek to lose weight or be in so called "perfect shape". _
Some seek success or are driven by the praise of mankind.

None of these things will make you happy! None of these things will make you feel ultimately better, complete or whole.

When it comes right down to it...You need Jesus!
_
He alone is your strength and He alone is The One Who defines, defends, and completes you.

Cease striving and know He is God!

Fear is the opposite of faith and yet sometimes we allow fear to cripple us.

It also doesn't help that the enemy of your soul, satan, tries to use fear to derail our faith!

No matter what, we need to recalibrate our hearts and minds with the truth of God's Word because in His Word, He reminds us to fear not, why? Because He is with you and I always!!

No matter what the accuser says or others may say, that is the truth my friend! So, let us reject fear and step forward in faith because God is with us and will never leave or forsake us!

What is worship and what is service?...
_
Is it only the songs we sing or is it also the how we lives our lives? As in...our lives being lived in such a way that it is an act of worship?
_
Are worship and service only to relegated to once a week as we join together? Is service just what we do on Sundays? Or is it that and more?
_
Each week we come together to worship The Lord in song, be instructed, encouraged and challenged in The Word and to fellowship and serve one another which is a vital and biblical time.
_
Once we leave the church meeting places we can either sort of "check the box" as we worshiped or we can leave and actively be the hands and feet of Jesus beyond our weekend church activities.
_
Don't get me wrong, again, it's vital and scriptural that we join together and not forsake it but our worship and service unto The Lord and others cannot be contained in a 1-2 hour service once a week.
_
In reality our service unto The Lord is moment-by-moment and The Body of Christ should all the more become The Body of Christ once we leave the church meeting places.
_
We become the hands and feet of Jesus more and more as we go into the world to serve our neighbors and one another with the love of Christ and helping meet their physical and spiritual needs.
_
We also serve one another in The Body of Christ through small groups, bearing one another's burdens, caring for widows and orphans, feeding and care for one another making sure we take care of one another, especially those in need.
_
May we begin our service all the more as we leave our meeting places because...when the worship is over the service begins.
_
See Luke 10:2, Matthew 9:35-38, John 4:24, Acts 2:42-47, Ephesians 5:18-21 and Romans 12 for encouragement from God's Word on serving...being the hands and feet of Jesus. There are many more scriptures that teach us about this so keep studying and exploring God's Word.
