A group photo of the chlidren. After I took it, they all gathered around to see it and were pretty impressed.

Was driving through an older part of Singapore - the famous Joo Chiat area - when I spotted several abandoned shop-houses, or perhaps they were waiting for new owners to refurnish the dreadfully run-down place.
While I was taking pictures, I started imagining the people that lived and worked there. Were they Straits Chinese (aka Peranakans and Babas)? Were there chlidren running up and down this huge, stern staircase that I see? What kind of shop was this? A bakery? A little shop selling Peranakan trinkets? What was it like 30 years ago? Singapore's urban-scape is changing rapidly with spanking new buildings springing up in so many places. What will happen to the old pre-war shop-houses? Will Joo Chiat's rich and distinctive history be swept away like the dirt on the floor?
I was also particularly intrigued by the half 'broken' spiral staircase at the back of the shop-house (my other photo)...

Some of the children I saw when I visited the Philippines. They were always ready to smile for the camera.
This volume containing the Book of Common Prayer and Psalms, belonged to the author of The Water Babies, Charles Kingsley.
Charles Kingsley was the second son of the Rev. Charles Kingsley and his wife Mary, neé Lucas. The prayerbook records the marriage of Mary and Charles and the births of their first four children.
Mary Lucas was the daughter of Nathan Lucas, a judge who had inherited slave-run sugar plantations in Barbados. He married Mary's mother Mary Crookenden at St Philip's church, Barbados in 1785.
Mary Crookeden herself was born in Barbados, the daughter of Potts Crookenden who was born in London, probably in 1727.
The prayerbook has copies manuscript notes including accounts of travelling from Barbados to England and births and marriages in Barbados which can be confirmed from church records.
The prayerbook has been owned by the public library service in Plymouth, England, since the late 1940s and is now in the care of the Plymouth and West Devon Record Office.
Both the girls fell fast asleep on the way home from Grandpa Bear's house. My oldest looks a little uncomfortable.
Met these children whilst passing their school on the island, they were so excited to see a western face and camera. As they clammered to have their photos taken they broke the fence they were leaning on, just as I took the picture!
Hope the teacher didn't tell them off too much!

in my Ethics/Environmental class we are learning that the corporate world sits on the same thrown as our own governments. that the future of our children is full of billboards and lights screaming some corporate name, we will be surrounded by the ownership of others, everything eventually will be owned.
the video we watched was titled "the Corporation" if your interested in watching it. lots of useful information.
its main idea is about our Human Responsibilities so it relates to alllllll of us.
if you want to know anything about the government- Corporations are your answer.
SOS
someone save us. the people need a louder voice. we are becoming less personable, less conected. but yet here i am typing away, like someone is going to read and actually listen to me.
i have hope that something is going to happen, and i will be on the street with the rest of you when we are forced to protest for our own rights..... because if it doesn't come to that, we will loose our right to have a voice and live healthy, resourcefully, honest and true life. because i care about the chlidren of the future. i care about the planets well being. WHERE ARE MY FELLOW FOLLOWERS OF ETHICS MORALS AND VALUES ! we consider running to the store picking up a carton of milk and drinking it is a common need,...look into what you are eating.... dont be the mindless consumer they want you to be! research what your consuming, how to get rid of it in the proper manner. stand up for our rights to be told the truth.
