Kids climbing the Victoria CORE project "Flor de Muerto". Children seems to have a lot of fun at Burning Man.

Flor de Muerto is an installation representing Victoria featuring 3 flowers: The dogwood flower representing the province of BC, the Opium Flower, as Victoria was the 2nd largest producer of Opium in the 1800′s, and the Camas flower which was eaten by many first nations people.

Miniature Stanier 3 inch gauge 8F LMS Freight locomotive No. 8111. This lovely little layout in Walton Park can handle 3 inch or 5 inch locomotives. It charges chlidren (and adults) 30p for a lap of the track, and is open just about every Sunday of the year. Great stuff. And to see an engine like this effortlessly pull a load like this one is very impressive. Well done the folks of Sale and District.

Not me, silly...Im not leaving, but I am so proud of something Ive done I thought Id share it with you.

Back in 2005 I made a CD Rom Yearbook for the children leaving my school, I came up with the idea myself and produced a few basic web pages with some content to help them remember and celebrate their time with us.

I've learnt more and got better at it since then, this year it rocks. I used Open Source Web design template, customised it and using Dreamweaver I made a multi faceted CD which they all got given today at a fantastic Leaver's assembly. Using the css (cascading style sheet) made the process neat and tight! I included Photostories of trips the year group have been on, photos (using the Web Photo Gallery option in Photoshop) from the school performances they had been in during their time with us. Each child wrote a message to their fellow pupils. Also included was a mini website, a project that I did with a small group last year. The home page has a message from the Head Teacher to the chlidren, There are photos ( I took) of all the staff, which I turned into a Photostory with music) there are some external links to sites that we have enjoyed in my ICT club and heaps more.

Today has been an emotional day for me, that and the end of the work i set myself to produce this has left me happy but exhausted.

Incidentaly this has taken a big chunk of my time to produce lately, the work, then the burning of 70 disks, printing the labels etc...hence the last few uploads have been new edits of photos from my archives (the more observant amongst you may have noticed)

Feel free to tell me how wonderful I am for doing this and lift my low feelings a tad!

I was in Brixton library yesterday. There was a display on the holocaust and war. Chlidren were asked to comment on what they think it would be like to be in a war. These are some of their comments.

Local authorities should think twice about cutting the library service and denying all especially children and the disadvantaged the wonderful learning and community environment libraries provide.

A mother taking care of her small chlidren during their visit at Museum of Natural History in Brussels, Belgium.

The small children at the park were facinated with the butterflies. Some wanted to have them climb onto their finger and others wanted to defeat the insects with their plastic swards. I watched, as did their parents, but none ot the butterflies appeared to be harmed. Though, a few flowers were bushwacked.

they don'y make toys like this anymore

One of the flowers in the Childrens Garden at Lafreniere Park. This little garden is unique in that when chlidren pass away their name is inscribed on a brick in the garden. There are quite a few names on the bricks in this garden.

Normally, I would not put the flower in the center of the image but in this case I decided to because of other surrounding elements that I liked.

just playing with some textures

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass,

its about learning to dance in the rain.

Happy Monsoon!

I mean - really? Little tongue sticking out? Freakin adoreable!

This is a photograph taken of a page out of a chlidren's book originally printed in 1941, "The Little Kittens' Nursery Rhymes." The whole book features nursery rhymes and was photographed using real kittens..."made possible only by patient unfailing kindness on the part of the photographer at all times." ~ 71 years ago

DAPPLE-GRAY

"I had a little pony,

His name was Dapple-Gray,

I lent him to a lady,

To ride a mile away.

She whipped him, she slashed him,

She rode hm through the mire;

I would not lend my pony now

For all the lady's hire.

The inquisitiveness of children and their lack of self awareness creates the perfect opportunity to capture moments of perfect outward expression.

Thanks to black and white, Barbie dolls seem antiques. In my opinion they are linked to past, I don't know chlidren that still play with them. I have no dolls left at my house ... however also at my age, friendship with Barbie dolls is not over yet!
