The Chimes - based on Charles Dickens' second Christmas book, written a year after A Christmas Carol - is a dark and haunting tale set on New Year's Eve that follows the fortunes of Meg and Richard, a bright young couple put down by class and circumstance in a harsh Victorian world of poverty and disillusionment. After being visited by spirits, the audience are taken through a series of fantastical visions that reveal what lies ahead for the couple whilst hopefully restoring any lost faith in humanity.
