St Peter, Maxey, Cambridgeshire
I was chatting to the nice vicar at Northborough, but she decided she really ought to get on with the wedding the church was filling up for, so I cycled on to the next village. The church there was also one of hers, and she had told me where to pick up the key on the way through the village, even writing the address on her business card so I wouldn't forget it and I could call her if there was a problem. It's a long time since a woman I've only just met pressed her mobile phone number on me, but I suppose I might have guessed that when it did happen it would be a Church of England vicar.
Anyway, the ground began to rise as I headed into the village of Maxey, picked up the key and headed out the other side, for unusually for Cambridgeshire this church is out in the fields away from the village. I had been warned that 'the church is a long way from the village!' but it turned out to be less than a quarter of a mile. In Norfolk or Suffolk that would be considered in the village, I think, and as for Essex, it would be lucky to even have a village.
And so I came to Maxey church. Even from a quarter of a mile away I could see this was a magnificent building, a solid Norman pile. It is worth remembering that the Soke of Peterborough and the Isle of Ely were the very last places that the English surrendered to the Normans, and when the Normans did take control they imposed themselves pretty massively, both in terms of military occupation and summary brutality, and also in the longer term by building great fortresses of churches to impress themselves on the popular imagination. I looked at Maxey church and thought to myself that you don't mess around with anyone who can build a structure like that.
The church is on a slight rise, which emphasises its bulk. I let myself into the north doorway, and despite the overwhelming 19th Century restoration inside, I immediately liked it - gloomy, shabby, dusty, rough and ready - my kind of church. The grand Norman arcades head eastwards, leaving good capitals to the tower arch including a splendid and elaborate green man. There are two rather worn out panels of 15th Century glass depicting St John the Evangelist and St Paul (curiously, Pevsner identifies them as the Blessed Virgin and St Peter). Otherwise there are no perhaps no particularly exciting features. But architecturally the church is magnificent.

Un chat qui trainait dans le terrain de mes grands-parents. Tres affectueux, le chat, mais chiant à prendre en photo.

One way to make grouping easier is to join a guild. A guild is a preformed group of people that you participate with more often. There is a seperate chat channel for your guild, extra bonuses for being in a guild, and many other perks. This screen is where I can see who in my guild is currently playing the game.

A Yellow-breasted Chat, was found in Brandon recently. Since its discovery many people were able to see it and some were lucky enough to photograph it.
Chats are found as far north as Pennsylvania, but rarely make it into New England.
Chats have been lumped with warblers, but they differ in many ways including its larger size and variety of vocalizations as well as differing in behavior.
Oh, oh, zai cru voir un gros minet...
Mais non pas un gros, juste un bébé Macaron... tout surpris pendant sa toilette !
Eh oui, les mamans et leur clic-clic ne laissent aucune intimité à leurs petits bouts d'amour !
