Friendship looks like hands on maps and conversations of the travel to come; equal parts of today's joy, yesterday's memories, and tomorrow's excitement.

☾ “I have noticed that when all the lights are on, people tend to talk about what they are doing – their outer lives.
Sitting round in candlelight or firelight, people start to talk about how they are feeling – their inner lives. They speak subjectively, they argue less, there are longer pauses.
To sit alone without any electric light is curiously creative. I have my best ideas at dawn or at nightfall, but not if I switch on the lights – then I start thinking about projects, deadlines, demands, and the shadows and shapes of the house become objects, not suggestions, things that need to done, not a background to thought.”
— Why I Adore the Night ☾ (Jeanette Winterson)

We tend to celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied ad multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

A place without being
a thought without thinking
creatively, two dimensions
suspended animation
possibly a perfect imitation
of what was then to see.
A frozen memory in synthetic colour
or black and white instead,
fantasy dreams in magazines
become imbedded inside my head.
Artistic views
surrealistic hues,
a photographer’s instinctive eye:
for he does as he pleases
up to that point he releases,
then develops a visual high.

This. This is a place where I wouldn't mind getting lost for a while. Wrap me in wind and the mountains' embrace until I forget my worries and only remember my awe and the way altitude runs through my veins. #sweeterpoetry

We are passionate about bringing a relaxed approach while creating beautiful, natural and vibrant images.
“Standing on the snow-covered plain, as if in a pasture amid the hills, I cut my way first through a foot of snow, and then a foot of ice, and open a window under my feet, where, kneeling to drink, I look down into the quiet parlour of the fishes, pervaded by a softened light as through a window of ground glass, with its bright sanded floor the same as in summer; there a perennial waveless serenity reigns as in the amber twilight sky, corresponding to the cool and even temperament of the inhabitants.
Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.”
— Walden (1854) by Henry David Thoreau
(Chapter 16: The Pond in Winter)
While traveling along a quiet Colorado backroad, I came across this beautiful grove of Aspen trees. The timing couldn’t have been any better, late afternoon light filtered softly through the leaves as spotty clouds drifted above, creating a perfectly soft backlight. And, this is why it’s worth slowing down and letting the road lead the way.
When I’m on a photography trip, I rarely follow a set agenda. Instead, I let the conditions guide me. On this day, I noticed clouds building over a distant mountain range and decided to chase the weather. That wandering path ended up leading me to some incredible light. Ansel Adams once said, “Luck follows a prepared mind.” I’ve found that to be especially true in photography. Knowing where the most potential lies helps guide my choices, but some of the best moments still aren’t planned at all, they just unfold when preparation meets opportunity.
Haruki Murakami's— "On Seeing the 100% Perfect Girl One Beautiful April Morning" #💕☔#🌿☁
...
One beautiful April morning, in search of a cup of coffee to start the day, the boy was walking from west to east, while the girl, intending to send a special-delivery letter, was walking from east to west, but along the same narrow street in the Harajuku neighborhood of Tokyo. They passed each other in the very center of the street. The faintest gleam of their lost memories glimmered for the briefest moment in their hearts. Each felt a rumbling in their chest. And they knew:
She is the 100% perfect girl for me.
He is the 100% perfect boy for me.
But the glow of their memories was far too weak, and their thoughts no longer had the clarity of fouteen years earlier. Without a word, they passed each other, disappearing into the crowd. Forever.
A sad story, don’t you think?
Yes, that’s it, that is what I should have said to her. .

Project 365
Wednesday • November 3, 2010
I really wanted to see a sunrise this morning and the best view is always over the lake. Traffic was bad and I 'barely' made it! In the comments is the first peek I had of the sun and I raced across the prairie ... running & shooting.
It was a wonderful morning! Today is the first day where it has really felt like November.
I saved the music ... the raking isn't done yet!

This morning, the sunrise beckoned me. I went down to the river again and laid in the snowbank and watched the sun come up (yes, I know I'm crazy but I told you it was 40° warmer)!.
The title is from one of my favorite songs. Well, I have a gazillion favorites and this was the one playing in the car before I took this photo. It is "The Islander" by Nightwish. The thistle looks a bit medieval so this song by a "symphonic, power, gothic metal band!' seemed a good match!
Thanks to max f williams for his Minas Tirith texture.
"Be present. Make love. Make tea. Avoid small talk. Embrace conversation. Buy a plant, water it. Make your bed. Make someone else’s bed. Have a smart mouth, and quick wit. Run. Make art. Create. Swim in the ocean. Swim in the rain. Take chances. Ask questions. Make mistakes. Learn. Know your worth. Love fiercely. Forgive quickly. Let go of what doesn’t make you happy. Grow."
