Today I got a mail from a fellow Flickr and Instagram member Simon Clarke, telling me that he has seen my photos from this year's Spa Six Hours and that he was competing in the race with a Blue/Gold Ford Mustang No 107.

He kindly asked me if I had shot any photos of his car and if it would be possible to get them somehow.

I was really moved by his kind approach and started scrolling through my entire folder from the event hoping that I had shot a couple of his car. I was reaching towards the end and I was quite disappointed as I had not find not even a single one of the said Mustang but suddenly I came upon this photo which I remember very well from the moment I shot it because it was an instant fave.

So here it is, the charging beauty of Mr. Clarke and his buddies, along with my best wishes for their future racing and a big thanks for giving us such a good time!

A fast, Nickel Plate Freight charges east over the wooden trestle at Baker Creek, just a half mile or so northwest of the Michigan town of Carland, on a misty morning in August. This re-creation was staged back in 2009, during a Lerro Productions photo shoot on the Great Lakes Central Railroad, featuring Nickel Plate Road Berkshire Locomotive #765 from the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society, and Pere Marquette Berkshire #1225 from the Owosso, MI-based Steam Railroading Institute (SRI). This incredible event, featuring the only two remaining, operable Lima Berkshire Locomotives was only made possible when the 765, which is based in Indiana, visited the SRI for an unrelated railfan festival in early August of 2009. Thanks to the SRI's host railroad, the Great Lakes Central, it was possible to photograph both of these American classics doing 40 mph run-bys with freight trains over a two-day period, including some double-headed action featuring BOTH locomotives.

DM&IR Consolidation #332 is making track speed of approximately 30 mph, as the barrels toward a rural grade crossing in Palmers, MN. The locomotive, which normally hauls tourist trains between Duluth and Two Harbors, is pulling a vintage freight consist on a photo charter organized by S&B Productions.

DM&IR 332 is a 2-8-0 Consolidation type, built in 1906 for the Duluth, Missabe, and Northern Railway as number 332. It was one of 32 locomotives of the C3 class built over a 2-year period between 1905 and 1907. In 1937 it became part of the roster of the Duluth, Missabe, and Iron Range Railway on the merger of the DM&N with the Duluth and Iron Range Rail Road. In 1955, DM&IR C3-class Locomotives 332 and 348 were sold to the Duluth & Northeastern, where they were renumbered 28 and 27 respectively.

D&NE 28 saw regular service on the D&NE between Cloquet, Saginaw, and Duluth, Minnesota. It was one of five remaining steam locomotives for the D&NE when steam was retired in 1964. D&NE retained #28 and used it for only special excursions until 1965. It was then put in storage in Cloquet.

In 1974, the locomotive was cosmetically restored and donated to the Lake Superior Railroad Museum. There it was on static display until December 2011 when a 5-year restoration effort began. The restoration was completed in 2017, and the locomotive now pulls excursions on the North Shore Scenic Railroad, which is operated by the Lake Superior Railroad Museum.

Do you remember the Fish and Game poster I did a little while ago? Well I couldn't just leave the painting the way it was. There is something wrong with me.

Some of the best sounding units to ever lead SU99 were the LLPX SD38-2s that were briefly leased by Susquehanna in the early 2000s. A very mixed consist brings the train west along a partially frozen Charlotteburg Reservoir on a frigid January day. Those former Reserve Mining SD38-2s had quite a bark when under load. They were later leased to and repainted for the Iowa Interstate. The SD40 would become NYSW 3020, and the HLCX GP38-2 today works for the New Hampshire Northcoast. Not the best image quality as this was shot with a primitive digital point and shoot camera.

Somebody forgot to charge the camera batteries... So i used my iPad. As for breakfast,

I really want oatmeal, but I'll have that in a bit. I first need my caffeine and Flickr breakfast! Happy Thursday

At my baker's, the window and door have been decorated for Easter for about two weeks now.

The bells have wings to return from Rome.

In our childhood, since the bells no longer rang the week before Easter, we were told they had gone to Rome and would return laden with chocolate!
