Cape Elizabeth, Maine.
Portland Head Light is a historic lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. The light station sits on a head of land at the entrance of the primary shipping channel into Portland Harbor, which is within Casco Bay in the Gulf of Maine. Completed in 1791, it is the oldest lighthouse in Maine. The light station is automated, and the tower, beacon, and foghorn are maintained by the United States Coast Guard, while the former lighthouse keepers' house is a maritime museum within Fort Williams Park.
Construction began in 1787 at the directive of George Washington, and was completed on January 10, 1791, using a fund of $1,500, established by him. Whale oil lamps were originally used for illumination. In 1855, following formation of the Lighthouse Board, a fourth-order Fresnel lens was installed; that lens was replaced by a second-order Fresnel lens, which was replaced later by an aerobeacon in 1958. That lens was updated with a DCB-224 aerobeacon in 1991 (Wikipedia.)

Another version of the shot my husband took of me almost falling through the elevator doors. I'm really liking the Calista+ app!
Fyero was sleepy and not in the mood to be bothered by the camera, but she lives with photographers and it's the risk of sleeping on the dining room chair in front of the Christmas tree.
She knew the risks when she settled in, but I think you can see her displeasure in her expression.
Hope everyone has had a good day.

Very expired film obviously degraded a bit, but I love the look.

St Ouen, Jersey, Channel Islands - Sunset over the island of Guernsey. I didn't have my camera so it was the Galaxy s5 'phone that came to hand! It turnes out that this day' June 30th 2014 has been the hottest day in Jersey's history - coming in at just over 33 degrees!
The channel where the lakes system empties to the sea.

Thanks for visiting....enjoy the weekend. :-)
This is yet another sunset photo taken in the Lemaire Channel as the "Akademik Ioffe" sailed on through this beautiful location.
In this shot, there is a little less light on the top of the mountain than there was in an earlier photo. That's because the light had finally started to fade.
I will never forget that magical 'morning' when the sun finally set, and knowing I've shared the experience with many other passengers is rather pleasing.
Now of course it's time to share what we saw that night so I hope you all enjoy what we found during the last, short summer in Antarctica.
For some unknown reason I'm unable to add tags to my photos tonight.
Filled channel within the cretaceous Iron Springs (kis) formation (ca 80-100 Ma) on the steep incline between Gunlock and Veyo. The channel bottom presumably represents an old erisonal surface, with the sandstone an mudstone bands above (assumed also to be part of of the kis formation) being disconformally overlayn.

I love it when a plan comes together and the results are better than I expected!
I first noticed this composition near the old Knysna airfield a couple of weeks ago. This channel is only full at high tide, so I checked the tide tables to see when the high tide coincided with the sunset. Then I waited patiently, keeping my fingers tightly crossed that we would get some nice high-level clouds perfectly positioned above the heads at exactly the right moment. That all happened on Saturday evening. I even had a beautiful model to include in my photo to help convey a sense of scale. I couldn't have asked for more!
Went for a walk along the river in Fort Langley this morning. Saw this brilliant orange kayak against the autumn leaves and darkening sky.
Coastal rocks at Brancaster, Norfolk, UK. Having just bought myself some wellies and feeling confident, I went shooting the coast. Sure enough, the wellies gave me a bit too much confidence, and I ended up shooting waist-deep in freezing North Sea water a few minutes after this shot...
This is my favourite shot from the evening, although I'm not 100% happy with the composition and wonder if I should've processed it differently. I still kinda like it though :-)
The shot:
- Canon EOS 400D/Digital Rebel XTi
- Sigma 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6 EX DC HSM @ 16mm
- 6 seconds @ f/8, ISO200, Manual mode
- Cokin P-series 3-stop soft ND grad filter (P121S) and P-series circular polariser (P164)
- Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod with 322RC2 joystick grip ball head
Processing:
- Exposure adjustment and desaturation in Adobe Camera Raw
- Slight Shadows/Highlights adjustment with Luminosity blend
- Selective Curves
- Overlay Curves layer
- Curves layers with blend modes for dodging and burning
- Toned slightly with a Curves layer in Colour blend mode
- Slight vignette added
- Local contrast boost with USM on L channel
- Resized and sharpened with USM on L channel

I love Bettie Page's 50's pinup style. This Femi Set from Baetik felt very much in that same style to me as soon as I put it on. The colors and textures are fantastic! The little frilly lace bit is not overdone - just right. And the ribbon belt is a sweet finishing touch.
The fatpack comes with 12 solids and 4 prints
The mini-packs come with 4 solids or 4 prints
It's fitted for Maitreya, Slink Hourglass, and Belleza Freya, and is available at the Baetik main store.

A beautiful summer vista from the atmospheric, mystical 2,000 year old Lordenshaws hill fort in the Simonside Hills, Northumberland National Park. Channel Rock features an ancient, long carved channel and cup and ring marks.
Beatrice meets his concern by taking a step back from it, as is becoming her habit. Freedom of will is the greatest gift God bestows, she avers, referring to more than just the capacity to make choices, but highlighting the ability consciously, gradually, and resolutely to become aware of divine life. It happens in the big moments of life, though more commonly and, in a way, more significantly, in everyday moments. The will is operative, at some level or another, all the time. It is the attention and intention brought to each situation, coupled to the desire to know more. Free will brings purpose, meaning, and clarity to life, and so can be cultivated continually…
…It also works in a sacrificial way, which is to say, that the will is supported and grows when what is received is offered back. For example, if someone shows kindness, it is good intentionally to offer kindness back. If something beautiful is seen, it is good purposefully to offer a beautiful gesture in response. This dynamic of to and fro is opening, and it can be freely chosen, moment by moment.
