i love his hands (and then the feet). just last week i passed this very spot. a giant derrick is pulling up sand, deepening the channel. that sense of depth when one is swimming. it changes everything.
I'm about 95% sure I took this photo somewhere in the Loire Valley in France. If somebody knows better and can correct me, I'd be grateful!
Probably shot through the window of the tour bus while I was visiting France with my high school French club. That partly explains the awkward composition. I was 17 at the time.

Vermilion Lake, Banff National Park, Alberta
The grasses and willows lining this channel between the first and second Vermilion Lakes are glowing in the late afternoon light.
Seen in New Orleans. Shot on Film Ferrania P33 with my Leica R4, developed in Divided D-76. Scanned, made into a digital negative with QuadToneRip and printed as a kallitype, then toned with platinum. I think this one’s gong on the wall.
Mouth of the River Nene
Tycho Wing the fourth (1794-1852) was Surveyor to the Duke of Bedford, and made a considerable name for himself, earning the nickname “King of the Fens”. Sometimes in the company of John Rennie and Thomas Telford, Tycho surveyed the Nene River outfall and surrounding marshes. The Nene River mouth is known as Tycho Wing's Channel, and the area on the east side of the river is Wingland, or Wingfield.

I've been wanting to get some good shots of the Channel Billed Cuckoos the last few weeks but they keep evading me. I had a flock of them flying around the trees above me while I had a macro lens on and missed them and I've been hearing them at home occasionally too (including being woken by them). This is the only one I have manage to get so far, it flew over my car just as I was parking at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney but was quickly chased off by Noisy Miners. I hope I can mange some more shots while they are still around Sydney.

Towards the end of our trip south through the Lemaire Channel, cloud descended over Booth Island, the light got beautifully soft and this image and the next few were taken. This was shot at nearly 9pm. Most people had gone inside for dinner, and just me and JP (John Paul Caponigro) remained on the top deck of the ship. This isn't everyone's light or conditions, but we both loved it. Eventually JP went down and I was up there alone. It was one of the memories from the trip that will stay with me always.

The Belleisle cable ferry keeps this part of the river open. Some winters, the channel is notably narrower than this!
The Channel-billed Cuckoo is the largest parasitic cuckoo in the world. Apart from the Channel-billed Cuckoo's large size, migrates to northern and eastern Australia from New Guinea and Indonesia between August and October each year. The birds leave Australia in February or March.
Channel-billed Cuckoo's diet consists of native figs and native fruits, though some seeds, insects and even baby birds are also taken.

This is part of the channel that goes beneath the London Bridge in Havasu City, Arizona. We stayed on the top floor in the condos you can see to the right. I was waiting for that ferry to take me over to the California side of the lake, enjoying an adult beverage and the sunset. I usually hate waiting but for some reason I didn't mind this.
