I must say, I was shocked when I saw how nighttime changes an owl's face. While they become fearsome predators at night, they also become much more adorable to us humans, who have evolved to perceive large eyes as captivating and innocent.

In an effort to find area barred owls, I set out to a local park before sunrise and came upon this Eastern Screech Owl (Megascops asio) in the dark. This darkness was so inky and thick, in fact, that I could not see if he was in his hole or not, so trained my tripoded camera on the hole, manually focused, and finally saw him in the preview window! Shocked for sure by those massive pupils staring down at me, a frog (which he swallowed greedily prior to this photo and while I watched) in his talons!

Interestingly, owl eyeballs are not balls at all, but so well evolved for night vision that they have elongated into eye cones. For this reason, they cannot move their eyes in their sockets, and have evolved wildly-flexible necks. With their highly acute retinas replete with rods (the light and movement sensing eye bits), there wasn't much room for cones, and so most owls see limited or no color!

The Evzones (Greek: Εύζωνες), is the name of several historical elite light infantry and mountain units of the Greek Army.

Today, it refers to the members of the Presidential Guard, an elite ceremonial unit that guards the Greek Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Presidential Mansion and the gate of Evzones camp in Athens. The Evzones are also known, colloquially, as Tsoliades.

So much happened recently and obviously all for a good change.

Not just my hair changed but so much more.

I just build a new home for my family and me to enjoy summer to the fullest and I cannot wait to share with them.

When painting the walls of our new home I thought I could need a new paint too! There you go!

All I gonna need the next months is sun screen and shorts.. done.

Oh and BTW: my golden bracelet says “Florens”

My darling hurry back to me soon! I miss you terribly! ❤️

I'm adding this picture of the Amber Fort in Jaipur as World Elephant Day is tomorrow. It was my next stop after Ranthambore Park as well. This trip encompassed so many varied destinations. It was a difficult, but an outstanding itinerary.

There are demonstrations occurring in the city as the day grows near. I will let you read the article.

I first saw elephants in Asia where they are used as working beats of burden. It seemed so common place I gave the practice little thought until I went to Africa and saw the gentle giants in the wild. My thoughts changed and it is nice to see that the Indian people are demanding change

Autumn reminds me of continual change more than any other season.

The hues change, leaves fall, light lessens each day. Today I let the wind blow the autumn leaves until I found a RAW image I sort of liked. Shooting into the sun.

Thanks for looking, for your faves, and for your comments.

The harlequin glorybower tree, also known as the Peanut Butter tree, is full of surprises. I think this information below explains it best.

"They have 5 white petals, held within a green calyx which turns red as the fruits ripen. The flowers are not self-pollinating, so at least two plants are needed to produce fruit. The fruits (drupes) are white, changing to bright blue and eventually dark blue on maturity. The flowers appear in late summer and early autumn, and the berries can remain on the tree well into the winter season. Flowers and mature fruits can occur at the same time."

Here in Colorado Springs we get all the 4 seasons, sometimes all in one day! Two days ago it snowed and temps were in the single digits. Today it was sunny and in the 50's.

One of my favorite features of Fall colors is constant change - at least until all the leaves are down. In this particular spot, it was mostly orange, which, despite the overcast sky, gave the scene a lovely warm light.
