The Central Market in Port Louis is easily one of the best attractions of the capital of Mauritius. The market itself and also the area around it is busy and filled with shops selling a wide variety of products. This was taken in the main hall of the market.
A short walk from 59th to 79th Streets passes through many of the nicer points of Central Park, from the tree-lined Ramble to the Bethesda Terrace area.

This is the kind of road that every rural Central Valley resident knows well--a dirt track cutting through sunburnt fields, with power lines stretching to the horizon. At night these roads become central to the rites of passage for the local teens. They're a place for drinking beer with friends while blaring country music from the car radios. Here are the secluded spots where first kisses in the back of dad's car often lead to much more. This is where country songs are born.
Despite the warm look of the vegetation, it was quite a crisp winter's day with wet fog that chilled me to my very bones. It kind of made me wish I was cuddled up with my honey in the back of dad's car.

I was handicapped by the lack of a tripod. in fact I hate tripods, they're so awkward to transport.

We flew to Glasgow for the start of our 11th Wedding Anniversary Holiday. It was one third the price of the train fare and it saved us a day in travelling. We also couldn't trust the West Coast Mainline either. So after arriving at 8.00am and picking up the hire car we drove into Glasgow city centre and had breakfast in a cafe under Central Station. Then we did a bit of exploring around Scotland's second city. Of course I went to both of the cities stations, Central and Queen St to say I'd seen them, if not actually travelled from them. This is the concourse of Central Station.
Just blogged this NYC Wedding. It was seriously awesome I had such a good time photographing it. Check it out and let me know what you think!
Last week our class met at the Central Park Conservatory for a photo shoot-out. I spotted this monster coming off the Harlem Meer with his babysitter and, good photographer that I am, chased them down and requested that they model for me. Like most New Yorkers they were very obliging.
The Harlem Meer is a catch and release lake located at the northern end of Central Park.
Foliage is peaking, corn's being harvested, and Canadian National's L595 Waupaca job heads south through Weyauwega.
The Central is one of the oldest literary coffee-houses in Budapest, having opened its doors in 1887. Journalists, writers, actors, painters, musicians and university professors frequented this coffee house, as it was open 24 hours. Many famous Hungarian artists also became regulars here.
It was reopened in 1999.

Szabó Lőrinc: Centrál
A Centrál, modern akadémia,
pezsgett, forrt. A költők törzsasztala
rég befogadott. Zsiga bácsi, Tóth,
Schöpflin, Király György, Trostler s aki volt
tudós és író, öt és nyolc között
mind odagyűlt. Vers-börze működött,
és lexikongyár; Elzevirt hozott
Kner Gyomáról; Karinthy vitte új
feleségét; Heinrich, az öregúr,
csepülte a konzervativokat;
Táltos hümmögött, kis Káldor szaladt
Meredithet lekötni; pletyka, pénz
s száz terv lengett a szivarfüstben; és
hogy túlvoltunk Shakespeare Szonettjein
(s Horváth Henrik új kecskerímein),
Mihály kocogott: „Főúr, fizetek!”-
S mentünk, nézni detektívfilmeket.
I didn't learn the theme of this week's Flickr Friday until after I took this photo, but the truth is I found myself slipping into a waking dream, sitting on the grass in the sun, taking photo after photo of this man making giant bubbles and the audiences he attracted.

Black Hills Central's 0900 train is nearly at their destination of Keystone after an hour of winding their way through the Black Hills.
During our time out here, RCPE's LBFRC was all screwed up due to track work. After getting a couple shots of the Belle, Dan made the observation that if we left right away, we would be able to chase the BHC's 0900 departure and be back in time for LBFRC to get rolling again. The timing could not have been more perfect.
The European Central Bank seen from under the Alte Brücke. A beautiful evening, with masks and social distancing, I guess the attraction of it has let a bit.
Thank you everyone for your visits, faves and comments, they are always appreciated :)

Central Station by Team CS architects.
On the Birmingham Flickr meet this weekend, as part of the early crew, we found ourselves outside Grand Central as the sun rose. The highly polished outside of the building gives so many opportunities for compositions
I never tire of the spectacular spaces found inside Midtown Manhattan's Grand Central Terminal.

Central Michigan’s Train 701 departs Durand during May of 1989. If it wasn’t for the red dwarf signal I’d swear this was a black & white picture.
by Pedro Cabrita Reis
"To achieve the delicate balance between monumentality and lightness, Cabrita Reis used two of his favourite materials — aluminum tubes and fluorescent lights.
[...]
Cabrita Reis (b. 1956) envisaged two interconnected towers, free of superfluous elements, which merge with the landscape and reflect the light of the river while also emanating their own light — like luminous skeletons of two matching tower blocks. For him, the work evokes a “strange machine for producing light” and recalls the former purpose of the Tejo Power Station.
Cabrita Reis considers his Central Tejo to be an integral part of the fabric of the bank of the Tejo. “Of course, the sculpture was made for Lisbon and the people of Lisbon”, he says. “But it was also made for the river.”" (www.maat.pt/en/exhibition/pedro-cabrita-reis-central-tejo...)
